Well Friday started early as we had to get to Whistler pronto in order to pick up all our kit. A 5.30am start is never a good thing and it was about 15 below. We all got kitted out - which took ages. The girls were in one class, teenagers in another and OAP's in the third (well we felt like that when we looked at the average age of those going up on the Gondola - about 20-25 years younger than us on average!!) The snowboarding was sick! We all thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great idea for all four of us adults to go together on a beginners session. Of course there was soon a girl/boy split with the men proving that they were more foolhardy than us and by day two ... read more

Hi Bloggers! Having a great time in Canada. I've been snow boarding for two days. It was absolutely brill but we had to wake up at 6 o clock - that wasnt so good. When we got to the place where we were snowboarding there were other children there and i moved up a level the second day. If I go again I will be in level two. One of Fiendish's friends is on level 4 and did a big run. On the second day I went down a ramp. It was full of people that I had to dodge. My shoulder ached at the end because I fell on it. Freaky's back hurt and flirtys feet hurt! The best bit was that it was easy to learn and I was one of the best in ... read more

Hia guys,we have been snowboarding for 2 whole days getting up at 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning! Early in 2 days running! The first day everyone had hurt their back except from dad but that was because he wasnt trying hard enough! We had a cuppa tea and went to do more snowboarding, at the momment its pouring it down with snow, and on a tall hill with more snow coming down aint good for keeping balance when your on a snowboard! Fiendish enjoyed it mainly because he knew he was one of the best in the family, and that when dad fell over Fiendish came round with a perfect hault just to say to dad "ha!" and flew of with out a fall or wobble. All there is really yo say is it was bloomin ... read more

Quite Literally in fact as we took a 17 hour train journey from Jasper to Vancouver last Saturday, arriving on Sunday. Contrary to other entries it wasnt that bad - we slept fitfully, and the girls won prizes at Bingo! Also before leaving in a desperate attempt to gain any sighting of wildlife we actually spotted Elk on the train tracks! On the train there is a viewing car which gives a good view of the (in our case) snow covered mountains and forests albeit in the dwindling light - it passed the time and we are getting really blase about the snow and scenery now! When we arrived in Vancouver we were met by long lost friends who had made the effort to arrive at the station by 7.30am - pretty impressive! After a stonking ... read more

As you can see form the entries from Flirty and Fabulous we have had a very cold but interesting few days here in the Rockies. I will leave with strong memories of the low temperature (regularly minus 17 degrees) and stunning scenery. As you drive toward the rockies from Calgary you can see them looming ahead of you and as they got higher and higher in your sights so the temperature got lower and lower. When we arrived in Banff it was already minus 12 so we headed off to a local store and gave the credit card a work out on thermals, gloves and fleeces etc - but well worth it!! The next morning we went to Lake Louise. The views there really are stunning. There was plenty of snow to keep the kids happy and ... read more

On Thursday the 22nd I was eating my breakfast and I bit into something hard. I felt around and found a gap where my wobbly tooth had been and I nearly swallowed the tooth but got it just in time. I still haven't put it under my pillow - mum is saving it next to the passports. We went to the Athabasca Glacier ( thats where ice moves very slowly downhill). Over the years the glacier has got smaller by the heat and more animals are getting extinct so we need to recycle more to save the glacier and the animals. As we climbed the mountain to reach the glacier, me, flirty, fiendish and fatty five found it harder to breath because when you go uphll there is less oxygen to breathe and you need deeper ... read more

so far it's been fab!We went to Lake Louise, it was at least bellow your knee deep in snow! The Lake Louise was completely frozen, Dad started to walk on it and so everyone else followed in the family except from mum. Mum wanted a photo of us on the ice, she was just about to take it until.............whooooppppppssss......she slipped on the snow and fell backwards, it was so funny! That was the memory of Lake Louise. We've been in these cable cars that went up a tall, tall, tall mountain! It was a little bit scary, because you could see out of the side of the windows but i was thankful that nor dad, me or char stared jumping or swinging in case it fell!when we were at the top it was so cold it was unbelievable, me,Tom,Dad and Char ... read more
