What a trip it was and your summary is excellent! I enjoyed the entire trip but the cocktail making was great fun. Portugal is a beautiful country and wonderful people. Thanks for sharing the adventure.

River Cruise
Wow, this looks amazing! I would've been excited too, like my first day of school also. I'm very similar in my money - I have a separate bank account called "Travels Account", and haven't bought any new clothes or Starbucks coffee for ages. Then when the trip comes, one splashes out - yay! Great that the single supplement was waived for you, I'm not a big fan of that either! What a great start to your river cruise ?

Porto
I like the sound of Porto, I enjoy visiting gritty cities, this sounds like one of them. I've also started recently to enjoy the hop-on hop-off buses, but mostly as you did also with no hopping, just the viewing. The Douro River trip sounds exciting ?

Gritty Cities
Porto was a fun place. Although I haven't been to Scotland yet, I had always associated The Granite City with Aberdeen, due to a mystery series I read. Porto is also very much a granite city, and make my desire to visit Aberdeen even stronger. Thanks for reading along on this trip.

Going Big
I agree 100%! Living simply to go BIG on travels is one lifestyle I subscribe to. No fancy jewellery or branded fashion items for moí. But yes to the occasional dining adventures. Anything for food hahaha. Don't we know our priorities? Swell ?

Looks like a superb vessel Brendan. Magnificent profile. Only 41 passengers instead of 84. You must have had plenty of elbow room...no fighting to get to the front of the cuisine queue! We always stand back so no problem for us also!

Chef.... you were looking extremely good!.... actually you were the sharpest dressed person on the trip. The soups the entire trip were amazing. They provided us with many memories. The crew was top notch and made the trip all it was.

I've never done a cooking class while travelling, it sounds a worthwhile experience, particularly if one would like to try dishes encountered while travelling, when home again. I imagine as a chef and a traveller too, this is right up your street, and I imagine those golfers back in Seattle will very much appreciate your experience! ?

They are great fun
I would encourage you to think about a class on your next trip. There are usually fun travelers to meet, and it is a great way to learn more about the foods of a new country along with a one on one chat with a local. Yes, I think the golfers are going to be very happy.

Well, through good timing and lots of luck, I am about to hit the skies again. It has been far too long since my last journey. As much as I love going to visit my family each year, the act of heading to the airport and climbing on a plane to the homeland lacks the edge, excitement and the element of the unknown that a trip abroad brings.
