Columbus and music
Columbus' rests are probably both in Seville and Santo Domingo. Maybe all we have here is one of his legs. On the other hand, it's really nice to see someone able to appreciate the schemes laying underneath the apparent free-style of flamenco music. It's not a surprise that classical spanish composers such as Falla, Albéniz and Granados found in french impressionists the right tools they so long seeked and needed to evocate this sound in their nationalist compositions. If, as it seems, you are fond of classical music, you may want to listen to 'Iberia' some day, Albeniz's piano masterwork. If so, try to find some version by Alicia de Larrocha-great performance- who sadly died some days ago. Have fun.

Wanderlust and Envy
You're traveling through a part of Spain Alan and I have yet to see -- we've been to Madrid a couple of times and also the San Sebastian - Bilbao area. From your description we need to add this on to an Oxford trip altho I bet it is very hot in the summer. Give my best to Miss Jennie. Alan has finished one third of his treatments.

Wish I could be with you! But it was wonder to see my kids and my darling little boys. They are both talking up a storm, though don't know quite what to do with each other. I was a wreck, but Stewart the Lab did quite well on his first, and hopefully his only, airplane ride. American Airlines was wonderful in the care and handling, at least as much as I was able to see. Have fun and keep sending pictures. A TeePee in Spain?

Madrid
