Another amazing day
What a spectacle - I had no idea the Tattoo was so multi-cultural. And what fun to go from being a performer to a (well marshalled, hurray) audience member in one day.

Dessert & Connections
Great luck on the dessert purchase, although I've never had shortbread with compote backed in. A reason to return, perhaps. I was just thinking how fun it is to see the actual places we know from stories/songs -- Loch Lomond in this case -- and then came upon the picture of Wolfe's posting. I have to remind myself that these famous names had lives beyond their short appearance in our history.

Connections
I had the same reaction to the Wolfe reference. The more I travel, the more I realize life is complex, and our view can always get wider.

Blood pudding andother outrages
I have known you for many years and yet not known that you eat blood pudding. Amazing. Probably as amazing as it is to you that I don't. :-) Your days on tour were very full. Isn't that interesting that the Kirk's presumptions about local hospitality "standards" were overset. Good on them. Shortbread, yeah!

Food we like and don't
Not surprising at all that you don't eat blood pudding, because most people don't. Shortbread on the other hand is liked by most people, although not all. Very few people are as passionate about "proper pies" as I am.

Hope and photos
Indeed, as we also saw on our trip, the divisions in Northern Ireland are not healed. I hope that every day of peace makes them just a wee bit less likely to revert to physical violence. Great shots of the Titanic Museum.

Wow
What a fabulous day! Thanks for giving me a taste of it.

Ayr - not yet
I have not (yet?) been to Ayr: I have shrunk from driving on the left side of the road, and not (yet?) worked up the energy to tackle smaller locations by bus/train. I'm delighted you've found something so new in retirement that gives you so much pleasure.

We've been around the world
We've traveled a lot and Scotland still remains one of our favorites. Thanks for taking us along.

Emotions run high
Even today we found people would ask us if we were protestant or catholic. I better understood The Troubles once visiting. History and strife.

Emotions
Commenting as a visitor in a troubled place is delicate, but I do know how I felt.

Song in my heart: Ireland
Thank you for this blog - I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. My Irish neighbors have just come back from a trip (their last one - he' 94 & she's 90), plus my sister is going to Ireland in 3 weeks, so I will pass this blog on for her to enjoy! Thanks so much, Vivian Brennen

Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin
Thanks! Wonderful church to visit, not only for the remarkable crypt.

Mountain flowers
Firstly - Congrats on the arduous walk! I am very impressed. Second- i did not realize such colour existed on our majestic mountains. Thanks for sharing. Keep healthy and hiking so we can continue to learn and enjoy life a la Judith?

Wow!
Yes, it is hard to believe you walked all that way, uphill! Well done. And the profusion of flowers is hard to believe, too. Beautiful vistas, far and near. I've seen wildflowers in places I've visited, but almost never in places I've lived, or lived near. A good reminder to get out and about, even when at home.

Serenity
I am glad you could feel the peace we felt.

Overlap again
We also visited Blarney Castle and figured we might as well do The Thing. As we ascended and descended those claustrophobic staircases, I was surprised by the smallness of the rooms - not my mental image of a castle at all, after seeing great palaces in France. The gardens *were* amazing, though, and the shopping impressive for those so inclined. I find I just have to think of my crowded basement to restrain myself. For you it was the extra load: I guess whatever disincentive works. :-) Your shots of Cashel are evocative. Think of the work of building it . . .

Overlap
Glad to know my photos brought you good memories. Castles were not nice places to live, except a peasant cottage would be worse.
