We took our last overnight bus from Hervey Bay to Airlie Beach, where we would get our boat to sail the Whitsundays. It was a 13 hour bus and really did feel like forever! The weather was really nice when we reached Airlie Beach. Surprisingly, there isn't actually a beach at Airlie, its more of a harbour. But they do have a manmade lagoon so we spent some time there while we waited to check in. The hostel was ok, pretty average, but it had a good bar that was went to every night we were there. We had two nights here before catching our boat called "Powerplay". We had been told by Ozintro that this was the best boat to get, so we were really excited about it. The first night, we went into the ... read more

Ok so Fraser Island has to be the best experience I have had so far - absolutely a great laugh. We arrived at Hervey Bay and stayed at a hostel called Beaches. It is through Beaches that our Fraser Island and Whitsunday packages are booked through. We stayed on night in Hervey Bay, getting ready for the trip to Fraser the next day. Basically, you get put into a group of 8 and share a 4x4 vehicle. Anyone with a driving license more than 2 years old and is over 21 can drive. Luckily for me and Lynsey, we were the only drivers! Scary thought right! So while me and Lynsey get taught about the vehicles and how to drive in sand and off road, the others went shopping for food and drinks. I was a ... read more

Have been without internet for a while, what with camping on Fraser Island and sailing the Whitsundays, so lots of catching up to be done on the blog front! The best thing about Noosa has to be the hostel. We had a recommendation from a roommate in Byron Bay- so I gave them a call. It was called Flashpackers and was fantastic! They picked us up from the bus station and the first impression of the place was shock! Everything was so new and stylish - plus free internet!! We dumped our bags in our room (four beds with no bunks and it was en-suite - heaven!) and walked back into town. The hostel was a 15 minute walk, but they did a free shuttle every hour. The town was fairly small - on a par ... read more

Sorry its been a while. I'm missing the free internet we had in Sydney! So... Byron Bay was nice, but not sure I could have stayed any longer than we did. The beach was gorgeous, but I found the town quite boring, plus expensive! On our third day there, we did a fantastic walk up to the lighthouse. It took around 6 hours (with us stopping for over an hour for lunch at the top) to do but the views were great. I'm really getting into the walks over here, as the scenery is so good. We could see dolphins in the sea in the distance, but were too far away for photos and to see properly. That night, most of the girls went to the cinema to watch Sex in the City 2, and four ... read more

The last couple of days with Ozintro was good. Saturday night we went on a pub crawl. We went to 4 bars, with a party bus driving us everywhere. It was actually a really good night! We got one free drink in each bar and so I only paid for two drinks all night. Sunday I just slept in and didn't really do much. That night, we had our farewell dinner up Sydney tower. It was a revolving restaurant with great views across the city. The food was nice too. So basically have just been researching hostels and available jobs until I left on Wednesday. We took the greyhound at 10pm on Wednesday and it took 12 hours to reach Byron! Thursday was not a good day for me. I was pretty tried from the overnight ... read more

Its been a hectic few days, but been absolutely brilliant! Done all the boring bits - banking, medicare etc - on the tuesday. We then went for lunch down on the harbour and spent the afternoon in the aquarium. It was a nice aquarium, but I feel that I have been to sooo many that I was kind of indifferent to the place to be honest. Then that night we went out to a bar/nightclub called The Gaff. Cool place with cheap alcohol ($3 beer), plus a free meal. It was a good night, although they had that wet T-shirt competition towards the end of the night. Seriously it was just a chance for the girls who entered to dance topless, was the most stupid thing I've seen. Of course all the guys were cheering while ... read more

Well had a fantastic first few days. When I got here I didn't do much really, except sleep! Sunday night I went out with two guys, Michael and Stephen, and a girl, Lynsey, who are in my Ozintro group. We had a good night at a local bar here in Coogee. Monday was a right laugh. We did a quick drive around the city and then took a walk through the Botanic Gardens. We saw fantastic views of the Sydney Opera House and the bridge. Our Ozintro leader, Ben, had brought bread with him so we could feed the cockatoos. They actually landed on your arm to take the bread! You would have hated it mum! Unfortunately, the one which landed on my arm flew away before I took the photo. I also saw fruit bats ... read more

Well I arrived in Sydney last night. It is, unfortunately, pouring with rain! I got soaked this morning walking to Ozintro's office (they are the company I am going through). The flight was VERY long and I have to admitt, I wished I had stayed one night in Singapore. I didn't want to get back onto the plane!! I was lucky though because I didn't have anyone sat beside me on the plane, so was able to stretch out. I did have trouble sleeping, and got about 3 hours sleep during the 22 hour flight. I did watch loads of movies! I was picked up at the airport and taken to the hostel. The room I am staying in is nice. I am with two girls who are doing the same Ozintro week as me. We ... read more
