Thank you - very kind :)

You are right...
one of the best things about travel is coming home! Like you, I am willing to spend a little more money to get a lot more comfort. I'm looking forward to reading about your next travels.

Thank you
Thanks Bob, and thanks for reading my Blog. I look forward to reading about El Camino :)

Back home...
We love that coming home feeling too! Your house sounds lovely. It's funny that your rules for where you ate in India were quite different to ours - we ate as local as possible, and we gravitated to the places that had lots of people. Andrew got one night of gastro in Madurai (but we ruled out the food as four of us shared the same dishes and only Andrew got sick); and even though I escape any stomach bugs, I got a bad flu that took antibiotics and three weeks to kick. We were super careful with water, but we know people who weren't and never got sick. It's the luck of the draw! :)

Exactly!
Indeed, the luck of the draw it is in India - as with the country, it is all really quite a mystery! I think it was actually a meal at the Radisson Hotel in Mysore that did it...! Perhaps I should have followed your rules about eating where the locals eat, but as you say, it's not "if" but "when"...! It's gonna happen anyway, so there's no point trying to escape it! Sorry to hear about the 3-week flu, that must have been just awful :( Looking forward to reading more of your blogs over the coming days :)

The Tree House
The Tree House sounds cool; but the Mount View Hotel sounds like the hotel from The Shinning! You were lucky to see the Black Bear family :)The Tree House sounds cool; but the Mount View Hotel sounds like the hotel from The Shinning! You were lucky to see the Black Bear family :)

The Shining!
Gosh you're right - The Shining! Glad I didn't think of that at the time, would've got even less sleep...!!

Our Southern Indian trip...
Our time was divided almost equally between Kerala and Tamil Nadu with a few days in Mysore. We loved the Backwaters, but it was probably our most humid stop on the entire southern trip (we were there in January).

Similar
Ok. Pretty similar to my trip then. I look forward to reading your blog entries properly when I'm back :-)

Kerala as a model
I read a paper that attributed the better living conditions in Kerala to the education of rural women, which inevitably reduced the population size. The canals look so green and lush, but hot! :)

Kerala
Yes, that was one of the main points on the Geography Case Study of Kerala. Very interesting. Not so hot here as in Tamil Nadu. Did you make it to Kerala yourselves?

A contrast...
It was the Pongal festival when we visited Pondicherry, and it was manic. Looking at your photos, I think I would have much preferred to see the town without all the holiday crowds. Hope your train trip goes well.

Pondicherry
Right - I guess it must have been a different kettle of fish with a festival in town! Still, that must have been very interesting to experience also

Congratulations on finishing your MA!
We travelled to India earlier this year and had a fabulous time. I'm looking forward to re-living it by following your blogs. Safe travels! :)

Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely comment. I have just had a quick pre-flight look at your blog, and look forward to reading through them whilst travelling myself. Particularly the blogs from the South, your photos are incredible (love the one of the Taj Mahal). Thanks for this link! All the best :)

The Angel's Pool, Livingstone Island

Victoria Falls
Hi. Great page. Thank you for sharing. I will be returning to Zimbabwe for the first time in 15 years in November, and 22 years since I was last at the falls, so I enjoy to read about other peoples experiences and opinions. I agree the Angel's pool sounds like a better idea, especially after you said the occasional tourist disappears over the edge of the devils's pool. Enjoy your travels.
