Congrats on the 75th!
Continued luck as you make the next 122...Gambia seems very interesting, thanks for sharing your adventure. Not sure if I'd be up to petting a crocodile or let flesh eating ants anywhere near me though.

75th Celebration
Congratulations. That is an accomplishment. Now you can become a provisional member of the Century Travelers Club if you want. Gambia is one of those countries I've known little about so I've read with great interest. Thanks for the detail. Eagerly awaiting more blogs.

You are really traveling now
Africa offers you a new experience. Traveling with medications can be complicated in many countries. Looking like the motorbike is adding to the experience.

Africa
Thanks Merry, Africa is indeed a unique travel experience. A great place to learn. It sounds like you're familiar with the region :)

Thank you - the water surface was like glass at that time, it was quite unusual

Counting the countries as you go
Yeah! School is out. Traveling off season is our favorite. We are eager to read your blogs and follow along. Sounds like you've done your research and are ready to dive in. Excellent.

Only a few months to go
As one trip closes it gives you time to absorb, reflect, rest, remember, embrace all that you have experienced. Then you'll wake up one morning and realize you need to grab that next travel guide and start a new plan. Eager to hear your plan for next year.

Thanks very much!
Thanks very much! And you're right, the return is a great time to ponder and reflect on all the experiences of the journey. And I also totally get the feeling of waking up and realising it's time to start planning the next :D

Happy hour and sinkholes
It sounds like your trip is ending all too soon and you are enjoying the last few hours. Air conditioned bliss and duvet comas can be appreciated after a long road trip. Safe travels home.

Absolutely!
Yes - you're absolutely right! I love all aspects of a trip, but the end is particularly great in the appreciation of home comforts again :D

The trip of signs...
Those five weeks went quickly! We have enjoyed re-living bits of our trip through yours. Hope getting back to reality and work isn't too much of a shock to your system :)

Footsteps
Indeed, they've gone really fast! Plenty to look back upon and learnt from now - still have another two weeks before returning to work, lots of time to rest up now :) I'm looking forward also to re-reading your blogs from the same places I visited, and also reading more on your journey through Mexico :D

I've enjoyed Following your travels...
and your thanks to Belize for "helping me to appreciate the warmth and the hospitality of the Mexicans and Guatemalans"...HA!
24th August 2016

Thank you :)
Aw, thanks for following and for your kind words...! Yes, I didn't want to state my opinion on Belize to impolitely...

Flamingoes

On the road
Glad you can appreciate and embrace some down time while travel. Life in balance is the key and the Flamingo is the example.

Brilliant!
Brilliant, and thanks for this - very wise, and a great analogy - I will bear that one in mind for future travels :)

Thank you! Still not sure which kind of bird it is though...!

Downtime
Hope you enjoyed your quiet 'doona day' (as we southerners say). You say 'nap' like it's a dirty word...having nana naps is one of my favourite things about travelling! :)

Zzzzzz...!
Lol, yes - you're right. It's important to have these down times, to rest and enjoy the good times - I guess I'm a bit reluctant as there's so much to see and so little time left...! Still, I enjoyed it and feel very much refreshed for it - onwards for the final leg of the journey :)

Scorpion walking...
The image in my head of 'walk the scorpion out of my room' was quite hilarious... and I'm so glad they didn't kill it. I think your bottle of 'travel brandy' needs a bit more explanation... I assume for medicinal purposes :)

Scorpion and Brandy
Haha, "they walked it out the room" - you're right, it does sound quite funny! I wouldn't have felt too comfortable killing it, I think the English-Spanish couple agreed with me. Travel brandy - I bring a small "hip-flask" with me for moments of travel tension - it has come in handy once or twice on my travels I can tell you, and I highly recommend it as an essential to pack...! :0)
