Hola! What a month! I'm so glad you were able to experience the many things that make Mexico so beyond amazing! Hiking, Oaxaca, street food, Teotihuacan, San Jose magic mushrooms, and the quirky ambiance of hostels and buses. So sorry about Shay, she's impossible. Can't wait to hear what you two get up to in Central America! We could have almost crossed paths, me being in Central America just before Xmas. Buen Viaje!
The restaurant with no name... ...I'm so sad to hear it's gone down hill! It had only just opened when we stumbled upon it in 2016 (and it certainly wasn't in the LP). Andrew still talks about that bone marrow dish, and will be very disappointed to hear it's now crap. I like the sound of San Jose and Brewski! We nearly went to Zipolite but ended up in Mazunte, so I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures there. Safe travels :)
Beyond the Wall Sometimes one has to enter the other side...'cos its usually interesting...the experiences glorious. Wonderful pics as usual Andy...wonderful sights as far as the eye can see.
The end of a chapter Interesting read from a part of world I know very little about... and I know even less about fishing :) I felt so sad for that family (but only after Ali returned safely from that car ride with the rapey dude!) :( Looking forward to reading about your Mexican adventures!
Ah I wish... I have only just become aware of your India blogs (via a comment on Andrea's blog)… sounds like you really loved your time there. I'd read about of Krishna's Chai shop before we went to Bundi, but didn't seek it out - so wish we had! :)
India Hi Ren and Andrew. Yes, it is true re India that we adore the place and that it just keeps drawing us back. I do remember your Sri Lankan blogs (another adorable country), but will have to chase down your Indian (including Bundi) entries. Regardless of our love of India and Asia in general this December sees us heading to Mexico and then onwards into Central America where we will once again humiliate ourselves with our pitiful Spanish. Happy (and safe) travels, Andy.
Thiskey Monastery Love this...love Tibet. How privileged to have been to the Kingdom of the Roof of the World. I have been to a number that claim this name but there is only one known as Tibet. Love this photo!
Thanks Does strike me as peculiar quite which photos make it onto your "top photos" list - I don't believe this one is on ours, even with a five. Indeed, I once spoke to Ali (TB creator) who said that pictures making it onto the front page do so via an algorithm that hooks out the "high scoring" ones. So many of ours that apparently fall into that category never make it..... C'est la vie.
Memories I came across this & was so excited, I spent about 8 weeks in Wittenoom, I arrived by plane from Port Headland and loved the place so got a job in the Fortesque Hotel, what fun we had, I did many walks with Dave and was on the one when the National Geographic were there. I can confirm Dave was a great guide and would love to know can he get any of these good wishes? I have lots of photos but the quality probably not as good as nowadays. we were oblivious to the dangers of asbestos.
Dave Sadly we have been informed that Dave has died; a death that no doubt was due to/ exacerbated by his time in Wittenoom. What can you say other than thank you? He was special... So glad that so many people felt similarly.
Dave Unfortunately he is not in a good health. Suffering from mesothelioma and having a few mini stroke recently. But u know him how much determined and strong he is. I met him in our walking group. Always full of energy and smiling despite all the problems that he is going through.
Dave Hi Nooshin, sorry to hear that about Dave. Please pass on our best wishes and remind him again how many people there are out there who so appreciated his Wittenoom tours. No doubt it was the asbestos in Wittenoom that has contributed to his ill health.
Holy Crap this is quite the list. Loved it! Bottom line, you've had some amazing adventures, count yourselves lucky! I too can admit I've had a few of these. I don't want to say much more, as I might jinx myself for India. oh and great pictures too!
Scams etc.... Hi.....delighted and amazed that someone actually got through 9000 odd words!!! Have a fabulous time in India, very envious, hoping to get back there in the not too distant future.
Have a ball,

About Dave.... Hi, we had the best adventure with Dave. Presumably you know him, hope he's still going well and strong.....in all honesty he seemed older to us back in 1990! Would love to know what he's up to, believe he left Wittanoon several years ago. Hope you're enjoying your travelling adventures,
best wishes,

Majestic Sikkim Wonderful to revisit this magnificent blog. I've posted some of my favourite pics in Majestic Mountains thread in the Photography Forum to remember them by.
Yep, all thanks to Sikkim Hi Dave, I remember you commenting at the time we did that blog about how you really wanted to visit yourself. It really is an amazing State. Yes, we did a wonderful trek with fantastic companions (funny thing is all such treks - seem - to produce such dynamics... you may look at the bunch initially and think we're not going to have much in common with you lot... And then you trek; and you do). However, we are also desperate to return. In terms of our last trip and such environs it was hard to call between Ladakh and Sikkim, and both need extensive revisits. Thanks for your comments. About to read about your Chinese exploits (currently on the front page) - a destination we've been to only twice and one that'll feature heavily on our next trip. All the best, Andy.
