what a great story! I'd love to be back in Hoi An and spend some more time with these wonderful people. One of my colleagues from La Trobe Uni is on his way there soon. I'm sure he's going to love it much as everyone who has ever volunteered there seems to have.
You're never too old! Hi Karen...delighted to see other motorbike recipients and how generous the Australian embassy are...the bikes make such a difference for the disabled, as we know from our visit and help....I really hope readers of the blog will help Lifestart and delight in the joys of giving.....please give if you are reading this...thankyou...James and Rachel UK
Thanks for the crafts... I received the stuff you posted in the mail for me, Karen. They all look nice. Thank you, and I hope to visit Lifestart facility in Hoi An one day.
Hi Karen and the Lifestart Foundation team,
COngratulation for the successful results (income earning capability) for all those women. So very inspiring.
This Christmas I must say that I was unusually very classy. I wore a white skirt with a white top. THey are all about 28 years old. On my shoulder I wore the beautiful red silk bag made by Miss Lieu. My people had seen my skirt and top 1000 times before but wow they all made comments on the silk bag!
Are diaries and nice notebook dear in Vietnam,? how about putting designs on these? We can buy them for presents and people will keep them for a year.
About the bamboo vases such a good idea! Light and unbreakable! Would lacquer red or blue or black possible? Recycling plastic bottles. Wow
I enjoy the cards, the sock doll (Miss Molly dolly is well,) and the bookmarks.
Very best wishes,
Tam

5 creatures at homes in Australia! I gave sock creatures to my close friends for Christmas last year (gosh, it is last year now!!) and they were absolutely adored by everyone. It was great to give a gift with such a lovely story behind it. Luckily, I ordered enough so that one could stay at home with me!

An elephant in Hawaii? Hi Karen, thank you for letting us know that one of "the family " is now residing in Hawaii!. Thank you also for your donation to our little Library.
Sincerely, Karen Leonard
I fell in love with the elephant last summer and quickly bought the last one before it was gone. As soon as I got back to Hawaii, I received an invitation to a 1st birthday party for Kiet. Kiet's daddy was from the same orphanage in Thailand as my son. Thank you for your wonderful creatures!
great idea Hi Karen, the online shop is a great idea! Congrats I hope it does really well for you.
I've just learned one of my colleagues at La Trobe is heading over next year to do some volunteering for Lifestart. It's a small world, particularly where Viet nam is concerned. All roads seem to lead back there.
HIEN Karen you never cease to amaze me .Your net spreads so wide to so many. Ten cups of coffee equals a months education it is so hard at times to equate our lives in Australia with those of the Third World. As allways all strength and love in all you do .
Donation Hello Karen . If you contact me through my email address I will galdly sponser Hein. Please let me know in American Dollars the amount needed for a year.
Love the blog! Loved the Hien blog - hope you get some sponsors. We received all of Hanh's lovely cards thank you! Please pass my thanks on to Hanh and to Sue Long. Hope it is working out well there.
All our best wishes from a cold, grey UK! Rachelx
Workshop products Is it possible to buy the Lifestart Workshop Products here in Melbourne? I have used up all the cards I brought back from Vietnam, and my silk bag has had so many compliments that I want to buy a dozen for presents to send to the UK for Chrismas
What a wonderful future awaits for these 3 Having been to Hoi An myself as part of the Cycle Vietnam trip in November 2009, I can attest to the wonderful work that Karen and the Lifestart Foundation are doing. It was such a thrill to meet the people who have had their lives bettered by being sponsored by Lifestart and being given the education they need. If anyone is thinking of supporting in any way at all, I say go for it and maybe one day make a trip to Hoi An (the Venice of Vietnam) and see the things that have been accomplished firsthand for yourself. So many inspiring stories and people to meet.
Well done Karen to you and all your loyal friends, family, helpers and volunteers.
STREETS Hey Karen,
I loved the service and food at STREETS! I highly recommend it to any one in Hoi An. I also recommend your son, Sinh, class on caligraphy. three of us took his class and loved it. He is a natural teacher who made us feel quite accomplished. No easy feat. I also loved working with Ms Phong buying books in Da Nang. Not only a terrific worker but so diligent!!!
From the Moone Ponds mums. Well done Karen and thankyou for letting us know of your work. As you know we are leaving for Saigon soon to deliver some donations. Unfortunately we can't make it up to you this time but will certainly try to do so another time. What you are doing is fantastic and we all wish you the very best of luck for the future.
Regards,
Dani Nicole, Laurie and Michelle.
