I can definitely feel i am getting closer to the subtropical north. A gorgeous day for a hike. So i took the trail around Cape Byron through the rainforest to the lighthouse and back along Watego Beach. And even saw some whales floating by at Captain Cook Lookout. By the way, the spot was named after Cook's grandfather when the explorer sailed by in the 1770's. Visited the Sydney Fish Market, National Maritime Museum and the Powerhouse Museum of Technology. After having dinner in the historic district of "The Rocks" i went up to the "Blu Bar" of the Shangri-La Hotel for a glass of Australian Pinot Noir, enjoying the spectacular view.Mein letzter Tag in Sydney. Also machte ich mich auf, um mir noch einige andere Teile der Stadt wie Chinatown, Blackwattle Bay oder Darling Harbor anzusehen. Geo: -37.8143, 144.963Today i went on a tour driving down the famous Great Ocean Road. Unfortunately the weather was less than great. But i still managed to spot my first Koala and walk among parrots and rosellas. When we finally arrived at the 12 Apostle a rainstorm created a dramatic but unfortunate setting. Although it almost made it more impressive. Before we headed back to Melbourne we stopped at the "London Bridge". So called because there used to be a big arch linking the coast with a big off shore sandstone formation. When the arch collapsed in 1990 it left a couple stranded on the now remaining island, giving them the story of their lifetime ;)Also, today is the premiere of "ParaNorman", the movie project which enabled me to afford this trip.Fuer heute hatte ich eine ... read more

Geo: -37.8143, 144.963Actually it took 14 hours to get from Sydney to Melbourne today, after checking out of my Backpackers HQ hostel. Oh, and i saw my first Kangaroo! :) In form of a roadkill... :(Obwohl, es dauerte 14 Stunden um von Sydney nach Melbourne zu kommen, nachdem ich morgens aus meinem Backpackers HQ ausgecheckt hatte.
