Being the last stop on my journey, I plan to make Mafia Island the most trade important one. As a merchant, I am hoping to learn much more about my profession here. I know that us, Waswahili, provide the Asia and Mediterranean world especially with goods such as gold, ivory, furs, tortoise shell and rhinoceros horns. Some good we manufacture are cotton, glass, and shell beads for trade. Back in Kilwa they have developed a local textile industry and extracted copper from mines nearby, as well as improving their iron work. I walk into a local shop and am exposed to new information about the trade routes in which my goods are traveling on.
