Lamu Island
June 25th 1100 Five days have passed since I have written. I am currently standing in Lamu, the birthplace of the Swahili culture. Certainly the main religion of all of the Swahili city states is Islam, but here we have the coastal religious beliefs embracing both local practices and foreign influences.
