Geo: 37.9792, 23.7166 Sunday morning we were up and off to see more of the ancient finds of Athens. The Archeological Museum and many other sights are free to visit on Sunday so we had lots to do. After making our way through the metro we had a great visit at the National Archeology Museum. When done with this we were back on the metro and headed for the Agora. This was an ancient meeting place and later a market place. The ruins here remind me of the Roman forum in Rome. At this point we were feeling hungry so we meet up with Beth and Adam in the Plaka where Adam had found a restaurant serving grilled fresh octopus. Adam and I were both excited about having this Greek delicacy and were trilled to find ... read more

Geo: 38.4708, 22.5659 Saturday morning we were up early and off to find the car rental. We had reserved a van so we could drive to Delphi to see the ruins where the Oracle once spoke her wisdom. After a short drive we were out of the city and on our way to Delphi. We had to drive through the mountains and on the way the weather changed from light rain to snowing in the mountains. As we drove through the small town of Arachova it was apparent that around four inches of snow had fallen in a short period of time. Arachova is a ski resort city as well as a charming little town with many restaurants and shops on the side of this large mountain. The town was so busy with skiers and tourists ... read more

Geo: 37.9792, 23.7166 Well it has been a long time coming but we finally are off to Greece. We had planned a trip to Greece in 2007 when Pfizer closed the Ann Arbor site so our trip had to be postponed. Our good friend Jim has come for a visit and during his stay we joined up with Beth and Adam and the five of us were on EasyJet and off to Athens for a long weekend. Upon landing in Athens airport we hopped on the metro and were off to our apartment in downtown Athens. The metro in Athens was finished for the Olympics in 2004 and part of it is relatively new. This is the cleanest subway and subway stations we have ever been in. After getting to our stop Kim's quick map navigations ... read more

Geo: 50.8371, 4.36761We took a trip organized through the Social Club to Brussels for the Christmas markets. Others on the trip were Beth, Adam, D'Andre and Andrea. We left Friday morning.... early. The bus caught the train and we were in Brussels before we knew it. After a quick check in we were off for the important stuff, beer. Le Bier Circus was first on our list but closed. So we headed for the main square and Mort Subite. http://www.alamortsubite.com After a few beers and snacks at Mort Subite we attempted dinner. Our first attempt was a place on the square. By the way the square was really pretty. Music and light show. See the video. Anyway, the place on the square was packed so a guy there lead us to another place down the street. ... read more

Geo: 52.3738, 4.89095 After many delays our friend Brad was scheduled to be in Amsterdam on business. After doing some fare hunting I found a great deal for another friend, Chris, to fly from DC to Amsterdam. I thought this was the perfect opportunity for us to spend a couple days in our favorite city and see our friends. Brad got into Amsterdam on Monday and Chris meet him there on Thursday. Kim and I drove the car there and meet up with them on Friday evening. I found a nice apartment for the four of us to rent for two nights. http://www.bedandnet.com/ The location was great. The cleanliness could have been better but that's par for the course sometimes. We parked the car outside the city, took the train to Central Station then took the ... read more

Geo: 51.1835, 0.110551Beth had her friend Courtney come into town for a vist and we all went to see Hever Castle. It was a amazing castle and well worth the hour drive. Some info on Hever Castle:Hever Castle, in Kent, England (in the village of Hever), was the seat of the Boleyn, originally 'Bullen' family. It began as a country house, built in the 13th century and converted into a manor in 1462 by Geoffrey Boleyn, who served as Lord Mayor of the City of London. The remains of the timber dwelling can still be seen within the stone walls of the fortification. Some time after 1505, the Boleyn family moved in, and Anne Boleyn (and her siblings, Mary Boleyn and George Boleyn), although probably not born here, did grow up here for a time, before ... read more
