Chicken and Orange juice Sorry you didn't make it inside Wawel Castle- it is an incredible space and one that fully emphasizes the artistic skills of the Polish people. I was there over 10 years ago and still recall being awed by the ceiling carved with face masks as well as by the intricate parquet floors.
Be sure and find the restaurant that sells only roasted chicken ( by weight), great french fries and, FRESH squeezed orange juice.

oslo really is expensive Hello,there
I can't realize that Oslo is expensive but Paris and London are very expensive cities too,for example in Paris you can pay your coffee up to 5 about 6 or 7$!In oslo the city is clean but in paris it's dirty for example!

erm....latvia holds onto the past Hey. Im english. I am about to move to Latvia to start a business hopeully with my financee out there. I been there so many times over the past two years plus researched into its history and people. Believe me, Latvia dont want to hold onto the past.
The older people may think the ussr way of life was great and should still have it. The younger people believe in the European Union. But the money which comes from the EU to the Latvian government should go on projects etc like new housing, new roads, new transport system and improve peoples way of life. Not always the case. The government keeps a lot of the money and improve their lifestyles, especially with their homes in Jurmala (21km west of Riga).
Latvia wants to move on. Within the next ten-twenty years, when it has got rid of the older generations..it will completey. But believe me, Latvia hates Russia. Government always fighting, latvia claiming that Russia should pay them so many millions for treatment by them and germany in the second world war.
Anyway,... enough history..glad your happy with Riga. Its a great little city. If you want to see my travel blogs and photos or Riga (and other euroland destnations.) please feel free to view on -

Roman Delight I think we all had a great time in Italy. I'm glad we're were all able to meet up as we traditionally do. Thank you TeamTurner for making a 2nd trip to Rome to spend 4 days with us.
Trip to Pompeii Hi Michael and Kelley,
Thanks for the honesty and great advice about the trip to Naples and Pompeii. My husband and I have been visiting the U.K. for two months and are conemplating a trip to Italy. Italian travel sounds chaotic.
While living in Berlin for 12 years I experienced the overwhelming b.o. of people on public transportation. Man, I understand and sympathize. The British smell pretty good overall and are generally quite polite, so I definitely recommend travel in the U.K.
Your comment about extensively traveling being a grind is one I definitely understand. I admire you and your wife for taking the plunge and doing it for a year!
Thanks for the heads up about Prague. It makes me wish I had taken the opportunity to visit right after the Communist government failed.
Best, Leisa

Great Time....Great Friends Hey Guys! I love the write-up (and the honesty). The pictures are fantastic, as usual. I need to get copies of the group photos we took that night on the balcony. We had a great time and the trip was made even better by the friends (old and new). I wish you many great things in your last few months of travel and we can't wait to see you again stateside!
Yay for laundry Ooo, ooo...I can totally relate to the excitement of getting laundry done! That can be a highlight of my week, too :-)
Glad to see you both are still having fun and liking each other! Hard to believe you're on the home stretch of your travels. Congrats on recovery of your blog. We're doing well. Sophie is approaching 4 months. She just learning to roll over, which she wants to do all day long. Claire is talking up a storm. I'm working on getting her ready for preschool, which starts in about two weeks. Take care, Katie
Found your blog randomly. Looks like you've been to many of the same places I was at in Europe. I recognize a lot of the same pictures. Happy travels and keep writing!
Mike, The game story sure does point out the wealth of knowledge your Dad possesses. However, it also highlights your fine writing skills. It was very enjoyable to read.
Love the family history!!!!!! Hey you 2! I LOVED the family history story!!! Well written Mike! It was like I was there at the table playing too. Can't wait to meet your folks!
PS Any chance of swinging back through Bangkok on your way back to the US? Still missing you guys! Diane and Jack
Mike, Thanks again for the work you do each time on the blogs. It sure is fun traveling with you guys around the world.
Mike and Kel, It was informative to see what your priorities are in terms of planning where to go. Interests and weather sure are important. You guys mentioned Scandinavian cuisine. Swedish meatballs have always been one of my favorite meals. I’m looking forward to the time spent in Scandinavia. I’m sure there will be a lot of beautiful outdoor scenes.
Copenhaven You have definitely hit the highlights! The Glyptotek has to be my favorite. Don't forget Tivoli!! It's amazing and nothing like an American theme-park. They have terrific posters (each season they design a new poster). They sell them at the ticket office even if the park itself is closed. It's amazingly romantic at night because of the lights, too. I would highly recommend going, if you have the chance, it's definitely worth the money.
Rome Can't wait to see you guys in Rome next month! Maybe you can give us some advice in advance as to how to plan our few days. You'll probably have seen everything we want to see.
For all of you who don't know us, we are a relatively normal married couple from Richmond, VA. We have been married for 5 years and have been friends since we met at Capital One on our first day of work. We have decided to make a "nontraditional move" with our lives. On November 7th, 2006 Kel and I left everything behind and started traveling beginning with Lisbon, Portugal. The plan was to start in Europe, hit Asia, Australia and New Zealand and then return to Europe to finish our year. Before it was all said and done we added destinations in the Middle East and Africa. The trip was am... full info
