WOW!!! i have never seen such increible, breath taking photos! i can only dream of how experiencing that could change your life. Thanks for the opportunity to view such amazing creatures!
Enjoyed the reminder of the salt mine I went to the salt mines 20 years ago as a young soldier stationed in Germany. It was fairly cheesy then too, but we also had to wear a supposidly traditional miners hat too. It looked like a black Fez, but without the tassle. It made the photos taken there that much more cheesy. I wonder when they stopped with the hats... maybe after a bad bout of head lice :-)
Headed back to Germany this fall, will have to visit the salt mines and Salzburg again. Thanks for stirring up some fun old memories and heres to creating some new ones.
Loved hearing about my old stomping ground Your Roanoke blog was great reading with my morning coffee and a fun reminder of the 16 years that I lived there. Next time, take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, either south of Roanoke to Chateau Morrisette Winery or north to the Peaks of Otter for a hike and a meal. I'll be in Roanoke the first week of February to visit my three-month old granddaughter. Can't wait!
Kruger National Park We will be visiting the park in early March and we are wondering if you saw a lodge there that was comfortable and nice within the park itself. The Park sounds great and we would also like some really great food (Italian?) and a jacuzzi within the lodge/resort. Any ideas?

History at home I grew up in Boston and Plymouth ( by the way it is the forefather's monument not the 4 fathers). I had never visited Bunker Hill, the Constitution or most of the other historical places that Boston is famous for until , as an adult, I hosted some foreign students from Japan. Thanks for highlighting the beautiful places in our own backyard.Carolyn ( blogger name 'gunga')
Massachusetts Visit Enjoyed reading your blog about Cape Cod and Plymouth. I was just there in August and had a fantastic time. The history around Plymouth was astounding. I loved the Statue of the 4 Fathers. Did you see it up on the hill in Plymouth.
I too walked on the boardwalk in Sandwich. I was surprised as to what people in Massachusetts considered a boardwalk. Ours in Seaside, Oregon is between the beach and the town with lots of shops or hotels on it. Both versions are very unique.
Happy traveling and Merry Christmas!

what gorgeous pics Hi dear Kelley and Michael,
thanks so much for capturing and sharing such beautiful replications of Mother Natures's most glorious artwork.
You two are so blessed which in turn blesses all of us as well.

critters To echo the earlier comments - pics are great. Glad that you guys had a surprise (for Mike at least - Kelley being far wiser already knew it would be a good time) highlight of the entire venture here toward the end. Curiosity question - how are you going to feel about your prior preferred activity of zoos following the safari? Either maxed out on animals just for a time or is natural habitat the pinnacle that can't be duplicated?
Boston Rocks! This is the year that Boston rocks; the world champion Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots (9-0 record), the Boston Celtics (undefeated so far), and TeamTurner (50% of which comes from Boston).
You guys have done it all! The African safari is amazing. Mike, the pictures are outstanding. I really like the captions that you choose for each one. They are fun and witty. Kelley continues to do a terrific job in planning your trips.
For all of you who don't know us, we are a relatively normal married couple from Richmond, VA. We have been married for 5 years and have been friends since we met at Capital One on our first day of work. We have decided to make a "nontraditional move" with our lives. On November 7th, 2006 Kel and I left everything behind and started traveling beginning with Lisbon, Portugal. The plan was to start in Europe, hit Asia, Australia and New Zealand and then return to Europe to finish our year. Before it was all said and done we added destinations in the Middle East and Africa. The trip was am... full info
