hello all! its been a while since ive updated the blog.... Im back in Copiapó, and after moving around a bit ive now settled in living with James´s grandmother ("Yaya") and am doing really well despite a recent hospital trip for a bad reaction to some sort of bug bite. The house is really nice, I´ve got a good sized room to myself with plenty of space, a big bed, an ironing table to put Chicha´s cage on and a nice set of drawers for my clothes (i spent a few weeks between the house of my program counsellor and James´s house living out of my suitcase, which made me discover that i like having a set place to live and sleep and put my clothes). I´m back in school, and all is good in that ... read more

James, Cami and I went for a three night camping trip at the campground that Abuela Mirna has in the valley with some friends of Cami's. We had lots of fun cooking, swimming in the pool, hanging out and goofing off! On the last night they went to bed early in the other tents so Cami, James and I stayed up talking and joking around and stargazing. the amount of stars you see out there is incredible! and I saw three shooting stars! While we were out looking at the stars we found out what the strange loud noise we had been hearing at night was.... we had a neighbor who was the most incredibly loud snorer I have ever heard!!! Also in these pictures you will meet... PELUSA! probably the cutest little kitten you have ... read more

Mineral Museum James took me to Copiapó's mineral museum! He likes geology and used to spend a lot of time there (and thus knows the museum people well and gets in for free) and decided he had to take me when i told him that my geologist mom would probably kill me if i spent a year living in a town that houses the museum containing the most complete collection of chilean rocks and minerals in all of chile without ever going to see it. It was actually pretty fun, a lot of really cool looking formations and colorful minerals (I can feel my mom´s glowing pride all the way down here as she reads that im calling a mineral museum "fun" and rock formations "cool"). I recognised some of the names of things and knew ... read more

We went to stay with Laura´s host family in La Serena so that she could spend some time with them and go to her class graduation and see all of her friends. It was pretty fun for me to see some of my friends there too! We went to the beach, went shopping, hung around a bunch, went to graduation and helped Pito and some friends film a video for history class. I stayed a few days after Laura left and spent some more time with Pito, Cote (Laura´s host siblings) and friends (we finnished the video aswell). One night we went to the beach to hang out and the guys brought a guitar, hand drums and a didgeridoo which was REALLY cool! ... read more
