say a little prayer for me ...
10th March 2008

beautiful lacey 'jacket' (i'm sure there's a name ... i just can't think of it!) on the lady with the purple flowers in her hair. i notice a lot of women wear them!
10th March 2008

They are fantastic aren't they? The lace shirts are called Kebaya, and they're like a church uniform, every woman has her own (they are custom tailored for you). And underneath they wear a 'longtorso' kind of like a strapless bra/corset d
ealio (very Madonna circa '91). It's an interesting contrast. Also, all the women have on a scarf around their waist, it's another required thing.

I know all this because on March 11th, I'm going to Ginyar (the next town over) for a cremation/burial ceremony of a high priest. He died 2 months ago, and the town has been preparing this ceremony ever since (it's totally elaborate, and filled with mysticism and symbolic art), and I had to get a Kebaya and waist scarf at the market. Mine isn't a custom tailored lace one, it's just cotton, but I'm told it'll suffice and I'll be sure to get a pic of me in it to show ya. =)
10th March 2008

ok. Damon's in!
10th March 2008

You sure?!?! the stakes are high! I think there is like 14 cents on the table there....
10th March 2008

not quite the VanBorghini ... but apparently carries the same amount of people and/or fruit! lol.
10th March 2008

My, Oh My! Have a massage on me! Sounds like you could use another! LOL. I'm glad you are having such a good time, and meeting such nice people!
10th March 2008

Yeah right? I'm stresed out, maybe I do need another massage. Only this time, not right after I get a sunburn on the beach. Is that much skin supposed to come off?
10th March 2008

BEAUTIFUL PLACE!
10th March 2008

I love these interesting facts!
10th March 2008

Thanks! Cool thing right? A lot of the statues are scary looking, but that's to scare away the evil spirits. I don't know how much it comforts me though, all these constant reminders of the boogy-man actually spooks me more than reassures
me.

BTW, did you see the lady just chilling walking around with a basket of stuff. I guess you can't call that a hand bag anymore....head bag? Then why the handles?
10th March 2008

Wait right there. I'll be there as quickly as possible!!
10th March 2008

Don't leave. Ok?
10th March 2008

I'll be right there.
10th March 2008

Stay there .. :)
10th March 2008

I'm still here, I'm not moving a muscle until you and Damon come and have a tropical coctail with me!
10th March 2008

You've done well! I'm definitely adding this to my list of places Damon must take me! :) Breathtaking!! (My kids won't miss me when I refuse to return home. Right?)
10th March 2008

Love it! So BEAUTIFUL!! I'll take one! :)

yeah, they spend a lot of time selecting and drying the right wood. Can you see the different shades of brown in the statue? Her knees are actaully a light color.
