In my footsteps Hi Chris and Steve.
Interesting to see how you are getting on around North island. We visited Hells Gate and the giant redwood forest but it looks like a different Maori Village although the format seems the same. We only had 5 days in North Island so we restricted ourselves to Rotorua and the surrounding area. How much longer are you in North island?
Roger
I want to go to Hobbiton! Hi you two:]
Great to read your blog and find out where you are and what you are up to.
New Zealand looks great. We loved it when we were there. I really want to go back now to see the Hobbit houses! Hope your leg clears up very soon Steve. Trust you to get bitten by a spider!! the story of the pills in the duvet did make me chuckle!
All good here. We've braved the storms and floods....VW virtually unscathed apart from a few trees down. Weird to see Egham and Staines on the BBC news every night terribly flooded. Carry on having a ball:) Love Deb Neil and boys.....oh and Ruby!
Hi your log has just clicked in, will read it during day. Half way round and still having a good time.
Spring is now arriving, started ridgeway walk yesterday. The sun was actually out. Speak to you soon

I am back home Still enjoying the Blog. I am now back home in blighty having thoroughly enjoyed Tasmania. Need to take issue with you on some of your comments about the Great Ocean Road but will wait for your return. Glad you enjoyed Australia and look forward to your comments on NZ. Am wondering how much of a shock South America is going to be after visiting the more civilised parts of the world. Is everything all booked for that bit, as I know you still had some flights to sort out.
Grt Ocean Rd Hi Dom
I replied to your message but I don't think it got sent.
You will have to wit a long time to tell me what you disagree about with my comments on the Grt Ocean Rd !
We are now in a new super dooper camper van making our way towards Wellington.
Have seen many more interesting things particularly volcanic mud pools !
We are now fully booked and paid for through out S America and yes we are a little nervous but who dares wins !
Hope you keep reading.
Steve
Hi, Fiji looks great and it sounds perfect for some relaxation somewhere really different. Everyone has told you about the floods which are pretty bad and few signs of it getting better. Although you have been away 6 months, the Marlow's and Jones' only got to meet up last weekend. We did consider how bad it was that we had only seen each other once since your leaving party!! And that if we didn't hurry up, you would be home! Travel safely, enjoy NZ - if you want any tips between Christchurch and Auckland, let us know.
Take care, The Marlows
NZ Hi
We are now in Rotorua and have been looking at the hot mud pools etc.
I've had to go to hospital ! What did you expect being away 6 months ! Read all about next time.
Hope to see you in another 6 months.Take care.
Steve
Missing you already Thought you might be interested to know that the bungalows in Ayebridges Avenue are flooded, the houses are above the waterline, Langton Way is also flooded but again the houses are above the waterline. This from Tina yesterday. She went to see Brenda Barkham a couple of days ago and Roger turned up. She said he seemed quite well. Rainstorms are rolling in one behind the other, seems no end to it. Bit like Fiji? but without the mozzies. Thames is flooding everywhere, Datchet and Wraysbury under water, Runnymede (no real surprise) parts of Egham town, parts of Chertsey and Shepperton, Chertsey Bridge closed, Sonning Bridge closed, etc, etc. Wish you were here????
Water everywhere Hi
I keep get emails from every one about the floods ! I'm not missing anything about the UK at present.
Fiji was much better than we were expecting. After the first day very little rain.
West Ham are improving !
more than slightly envious Have enjoyed reading about your adventures. Glad you're having more luck with catching the fish if not with photographing them!
No doubt you've heard about what is going on here! Ayebridges Avenue has made the BBC and Channel 4 news, it is unbelievable how much water is there. Pooley Green is also under water. They say it is ground water, but that isn't much help to everyone being evacuated from their homes! We are fine but a bit concerned that our previous addresses seem jinxed!
I hope all your UK friends are all OK. Chertsey and Shepperton are badly hit but I think Virginia Water is OK. We aren't really able to check things out as all the roads are closed. It took me an hour yesterday to pick Harriet up from work. I should have walked. Things are slightly improved this morning, but more rain is forecast.
Enjoy New Zealand!
Water water everywhere ! hi Nicola passed on your email to her about the floods in AA. Good job no one we know lives there no.
Having good weather in NZ so far ! Hope you keep reading.
Steve
I can't believe how the time has passed either! It hardly seems any time since we had lunch and we talked about your forthcoming voyage Steve. Still, as long as it lasts I'm enjoying reading about it. Both of you stay well, be lucky. Martin
Long may it last ! Hi Good to hear from you again and that you continue to keep checking up on us. Hope things are improving for you.
Not sure I want to come back ?
Steve
Can't believe you have been away 4months!!!! we have been in Antigua 3 days now!! Very hot today.
We are certainly glad to get away from the grey wet u.k. weather, will it ever stop raining??
You seem to be enjoying your trip, is there any creature comfort you might be missing, or do you think travelling is your vocation?
Keep enjoying
Janet & Roger xx
Where do I begin Hi We leave Fiji on Thursday and that will be 6 months gone !
Creature comforts : hot water, decent sofa, jam rolly poly and custard I could go on but nothing that would make me come back !
We'll be in NZ from Thursday for 6 weeks in our larger camper van.
Enjoy your time away, it doesn't sound as if it's worth hurrying back.
Steve
Adelaide to Fiji part 1 Hi You Two,
So you've moved on from Aus at last. Glad you enjoyed it. Fiji sounds like home at the moment. We're enduring the great flood and tempest as I write. Feels like 40 days and nights of rain and I'm thinking of building that ark! Apparently we've not had such a wet January for 300 years. Am working all over these last few weeks surveying 30 odd pub sites from the south coast to Wallsend near Newcastle and getting very wet in the process. Oh well not much else happening and have to pack and get ready for heading up north this evening. Keep well and enjoy Fiji.
Keep building the Ark ! Hi We've been reading about the floods and it would seem we picked the best time to be away.
We've been island hopping this week and will let you read about it after Thursday when we move to NZ.
Not sure if I ever want to come back !
Great Hi Christine, Hi Steve
As usual, I enjoyed your blog and the pictures. This one was particularly interesting.
Just one point - that's a great picture of the view from the fort but couldn't you have asked those damn tourists to move out of the way? Just askin'.
Weather Hi well weather is rubbish here - as you probably know. Although Roy managing to play as much tennis! We enjoy reading your blogs - looks lovely in Fiji - look NZ leg!
Sheila and Roy
The sun's shining Hi Yes we have read about all the rain. We have been lucky in Fiji after one very wet day. We're now on a very small island, about the size of two tennis courts !
Steve
We are Steve & Chris. In 2013/2014 we travelled around the world and had a wonderful time. The nomadic existence suited us more than we could have imagined. So once back in the UK we soon got bored (well I did) and over the winter months planned another trip. Only 3 months this time to revisit Malaysia, the bits we missed last time and to explore the outback of Australia.
Only crocodiles, snakes and spiders to avoid !
