Day 5 De ja vous - off to Monet's place again. This time we have the knowledge of where to go... Get to the Gare St Lazare in plenty of time - enough for Chris to get a real coffee from Starbucks. Yes she was very happy with that one. Wait with pots of people for advice on which platform to takemthentrain to Vernon and then it happens -platform 23 - mad rush so we go. Find a 2nd class carriage and get a seat on the upper level. Busy train but all good - takes off spot on time and we go (very fast and very quietly). Finally arrive at Vernon and queue for the shuttle bus. Who do we see but H.G Nelson (Roy and HG) with his wife (?) and another couple. Celebrity ... read more

Day 4 More metro.... Decided after a sleep in to visit Monet's garden. iPad tot the rescue - train routes, prices, go... Oops - missed the station, wrong platform and then lost in the Metro - attention to detail missed a bit here. Finathe found the station we were meant to beat for the Monet train - tad late so we just abortedfor the day. Booked tickets for Thursday so we have definite date/times. Now we have to fill in the day with our time. To the Printemps building - Myer or David Jones but a lot flashier. Roof top eatery has great views so we view and don't eat. Then off down the Boulevard something or other to the Grande Opera. Amazing building with extreme art work on roof, walls, etc. lucky enough to have ... read more

Day 3 Today is Metro day. Decided to go back to the Arc de Triomphe to watch the new president of France be sworn in. Find our way on the metro, have to walk around the whole square (locked down for ceremony). Chris finds some good looking Gendarme to have photo taken with and finally get to from of the Arc for watching. Lots of people, Chris gets up on a seat and even gets interviewed by French TV crew. Rain predicted and of course rain comes. Chris has jacket and I don't. I get front row on the Champs Elysses where the motorcade was coming up. Decided that we would go and get the camera looked at today. Adventure no.1 - walking into new territory and with cloudy skies above. As predicted rain arrives - ... read more

Day 2 After a good sleep - even on hard bed - we got up, had a shower - good pressure and lots of hot water - next tick for the apartment and headed off for the bus again to do more of Paris that we had missed. Off to Montmatre. First surprise was that we were right next door to a little supermarket. Fresh fruit, etc. 2 bananas and a bottle of water that wouldn't back the euro zone monetary market and we were off again. One bus to the Place de la Madeleine then connect to the Montmatre bus to go see the Basilique Sacre-Coeur. Did the walk through of the St Madeleine cathedral met by the 1st beggar of the day at the gate. Amazing art work and supposedly the best acoustics around. ... read more

Day 1. We arrived early after a 22 hour flight, including a 2 hr stopover in Singapore. Walked the entire terminal 3 and part of 1 so we decided that a shower was a good idea - worked a treat, much fresher after that. Paris on a Sunday is rather quiet. We met our man for the handover of the apartment at abouut 0845. He told us we couldn't get in until 1000 and suggested we go to the little bistro on the corner and have a coffee. Good choice - coffee, juice, croissant and baguette with butter and jam. Very Parisian. Into the apartment at 1000. Got the whole deal on how to do Paris, what to look out for and the tour of the apartment. Exactly whatnot looked like on the net so that ... read more
