Beret I thought that it was time I adopted that sophisticated European look. Unfortunately, the clothes are still as they were. May need just a little bit of up-grading. Actually it is not a real beret. Just a cap but I will get a beret. May not wear it often.
Beret! What with the haircut, the beard trim and now the beret, you're looking like a new man!!! Paris does look rather good in spring - must admit I've only been in winter or autumn. Well done beating the ash!
I enjoyed your photos and reading your Paris post! It reminded me of my own time in Europe. My blog is looking for travel photos, reviews, etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email me at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Continued fun on your travels!

Incorrect comparison of Wild Coast and Transkei They call it the Wild Coast because the coast from Port Edward to The Kei River is renowned for huge storms, massive seas and rugged coastline. And many shipwrecks.
The Transkei was (now a historical name) a huge area stretching from the coast to the Drakensberg Mountains, from Pondoland in the north to the Kei River in the South.
Durban Everyone here is hoping that the SA team do well so that there will be no demos or riots. They expect nearly 500,000 people. It will be big. There was a comment made by a totally irrelevant person that she looked older than she in fact is. Change was made pretty smartly after that
I very much agree with your comments & observations Hi,
After reading your experience in the OMO valley, I too feel the same way. Me and my boyfriend traveled through the Omo valley in Feb 2007 and had very similar experiences. We do not agree with paying for photos as how you described, and were very disgusted by the overall situation. However, sadly, tourists continue to visit them and continue to pay what they are asking for. Back when we were there they requested 1 birr. I guess inflation has caused them to request 2 or 3 birrs.

Photos of El Commandante Actually there is a T-Shirt here with him on. I have not been prepared to take their photos. Bit quick. He is a hero here - for some.

photos the photos are getting flasher, I'll admit. I'm glad the maps worked, too!
Been missing El Comandante the last few posts - I guess they have their own heroes.
Hippo Spinning Tails She has been traumatised by it all. Every time she sees a hippo she starts to duck and weave. Cows are now in the equation as well. They ate her clothes in the San Bushmen Camp!

Dont feed the Pigeons Having traveled quite extensively this is one of the hardest issues to explain to people when i return home. I love the way that you have explained the system here, it is something that is both quite difficult to understand and to come to terms with. It is unfortunately the 'way' it is done in many places where tourism is fast replacing any traditional methods of income. It is a common misconception for most 'backpa
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip and by the sounds of it embraced Zanzibar for all that it is. Good luck with the rest of the trip.

gnu "Why would I bite 'im? I had a pie. Turns out a wildebeest is a gnu."
I'm happy you used both those words in a sentence. Sounds like you're still having fun. Hi from us and the redbacks in your certified shed (I sent you that, didn't I?).
Our travels over the years have often sought out those places that we haven't yet experienced. We have loved chasing new places, but there is a change underway. We continue to enjoy experiencing other cultures along with their food, beverages, history and ways of life but now, having a little more freedom, we will also make more effort to seek out out such things as music events and festivals, particular natural attractions that we have missed and places where we can better appreciate the history of a place and its people.
The attraction of the road less travelled and the place less visit... full info

Jealous!
You've reminded me how lovely my trip to Paris in springtime was. Hope you enjoy every second!
