Beautiful! Want to thank Roger for the incredible photos he has provided. It is always nice to see things through the vision of another person.
I can only imagine the mixed feelings you both are having. Your journey that took so much planning will soon be coming to an end. Should you be happy or sad? Happy for the accomplishment of getting through this wonderful time of spiritual and physical growth and to be able to cross another item off your bucket list. Sad because it is ending and with the sense of accomplishment comes a disappointment of "now what". You have been able to do something instead of just thinking about doing it. God has provided the means for this and I pray you both have felt His hand throughout your journey.
Congratulations Pal! Betty and I love the pictures and your blog, it's like we are with you. Your adventure with Roger, the Host, the other Pilgrims and of course God were your constant companion while you walk. God reminded you with the rain, hail, fog, sunshine, rocks, hills, pains, poop and other stuff while you walk the path, that his is in control. "Happy trails to you until we meet again." Love CU soon, Ken
The End is Near Hi Ken, thanks pal for the reminder of God's provision; it has definitely been evident on this trip. We are quietly sitting doing our blogs, and having a cup of tea. Tomorrow is the last full day of walking; Sunday it's a short 16kms to the Cathederal. We expect to be there by 11am, we would like a seat for the Mass, however, they say 100's turn up, maybe 1000's. We then stay two nights in Santiago, before catching a train to Madrid; stay there 3 nights. Roger then flies home, and i go onto Germany for a few days before flying to Paris, and home.
looking forward to seeing you friend. Love. Daryl
Hi Daryl! John and I have enjoyed each of your posts and all of the photos! One of us has kept her comments to herself under legal advice of the other... How excited you and Roger must be to succeed! We keep you in our prayers and can't wait to hear more when you return. Blessings to each of you!
Mud and stuff! Are you having fun yet? That is the question! What a day that must have been!! We were happy to hear you went through some 'verdant pastures' - did that line come from a 60 year old hymn way back when you were a kid who loved mud and mud pies? We think so!! Anyway, we want to encourage you - keep going! Nearly there, and that will be such an achievement! We are very proud of you!! Love from both of us. And continuing prayer for your health and well-being and joy, in rain, hail and shine!! Kev and Liz.
Verdant Pastures It would seem I am not the only one who remembers this term; thereby putting us both in the same age category.
You won the prize for picking out the ancient word. The prize - a trip to walk the Camino for wife & husband to see the verdant pastures for themselves.
I understand hunor has been a part of the Smith household forever; thank you fir the laughs I've enjoyed on this trip
Love you both. D
Fun So happy you are nearing the end of your journey! The special Mass should be a beautiful ending to a wonderful time of fellowship and accomplishments! We are so very proud of your commitment to this pilgrimage with Roger. You are going to have plenty of stories and experiences to draw from for your sermons. We look forward to a few lunches filled with recollections of your journey. Praying for continued good health and safety for you both!
tested, tried & triumphant Hi Betty & Ken, these words probably express the experience s of the last 6 weeks. Even at 70 the Lord can teach you a lot about yourself. It has been a great time though, and I have been so thankful to yourselves, and others for keeping in contact - even reading the blogs. Your encouragement has meant so much. Lots of Love. D
Awesome Blog Read your entire blog today, so interesting and the pictures are beautiful. Gods speed to you and Roger, what an amazing journey. Was reading Matthew 4 today and thought of your adventure, many great men of God were proven in the wilderness!
Glad you like it. Hi Melinda, so pleased you are able to get my blog. God has blessed us in many ways, especially through friends like yourself.
Every blessing. C U soon. D
It just keeps getting better! Daryl, Thank you again for sharing this adventure with us. I am blown away by the beauty of the country side and the incredible stories of fellowship you get to experience with other pilgrims and the locals. I am excited for you and Roger as you near the end of this journey! Prayers of healing and blessings for both of you.
Nearly there! G'day Daryl! Just want to say how impressed we are with your 'running the race to the end'! Or walking it, even!! What an achievement! We are a bit worried, tho, that you will lose so much weight that you will become a shadow of your former self . . . and we may not recognise you ever again!! Just joking!! Praying for you and Roger, for strength to finish, and not too much pain! Enjoy those magnificent surroundings as you go. Love, Kev and Liz.
Blessing Great to hear from you, what an inspiration to know you are there. Not sure I will fade away that much, but have dropped a couple of kilos
. We didn't show you the cream puff & jelly slice we ate.
Love rhe new car. Sorry I missed buying the block behind.
Love to you both. D
About the guy from California! Hey dude! We are almost certain that you are the guy from Ballarat . . . . so that weather should not bother you at all! In fact, if it isn't sleet and hail, you should be laughing!! :) And . . . . you could come back to Oz anytime soon and enjoy our amazing Spring and Summer! Would loved to have heard the music from the Postmen's celebration - sounded like a great night! Well, keep putting one foot in front of the other - that way you will keep moving!! (That's profound!) And try to keep dodging the messes on the road - less washing! With our love and prayers, Kev and Liz.
Rain Rain Come This Way! Sounds like the perfect ending to a very challenging day! Hopefully, you will get a good night's sleep! Carry on! You are almost there! Always so good to get your daily blog!!!!
Here I Am Hi LaVerne, how pleased I am to hear from you.
The trek is going well, although a little tougher than I thought. We are into the last 5 days, so will be home by months end.
Love. Daryl
Picture I can now see why you are complaining about sleeping arrangements. Looks a bit primitive. Kidding of course. Sorry you have had to endure the rain. I always look at rain as God cleaning the dust from the tree tops. Cold rain is a challenge though. Good to see you are rising to the challenge. Have fun jumping in the mud puddles!
travels So enjoying your blog. Sure hope your weather improves so you and really enjoy the tail end of your walk. Keeping you in prayer and looking forward to a wonderful slide show when you get back to Encore.
