I arrived into Versailles at one of the three stations, Versailles – Chantiers. Leaving the train station I walked down Rue des États Généraux. Once I got to the intersection with Avenue de Paris I stopped off and had a hot chocolate at the Helios Pub (it was warm and had free wi-fi!!) I continued down Avenue de Paris and came across the Mairie de Versailles (I think it’s the town hall building), which had an ice rink out the front. I kept going down Avenue de Paris right into the forecourt of the Palace of Versailles. Amazing stuff!... read more

I left left hotel quite early (jet lag was still a problem....) and walked through the early morning streets where the shops were accepting their goods for the day (including an amazing amount of fresh flowers!). I walked along Rue Chevert and then past Hotel des Invalides and to the RER station, where I jumped on a train to Versailles.... read more

I did a day trip to Versailles on the train, and then spent time at Notre Dame and Sorbonne. It was only 6C/42F and quite cloudy all day. I will break this day up into several posts as they are all quite big. Leaving Printemps, I walked Rue Tronchet. There I came across many flower stands. I also came across a glove store that sold any coloured glove you could wish for! I continued and ended up at Place de la Concorde and saw the lights from the Eiffel Tower. By this time I was tired and knew I had an early start in the morning.... read more
