So we started our day with a 3 mile hike to center city to meet up with a tour group for our final BA adventure. We ended up with a relatively small group with a guy from Holland, a woman from Swizterland, a guy from Mexico and yours truely. We decided on the "south city" tour since that was the only part of the city we weren't able to explore by foot. This took us to the Puerto Madero which an up and coming portion of the city right on the water. Filled with lots of modern high rises, it looks like you've entered an entirely new city. Past this we rode by the Ecological Reserve, which is the portion of BA which use to be underwater, but is now overrun by vegitation and made for ... read more

Our hostel room is a 6 bed, mixed dorm which is currently home to 2 drunk Brazilians, a friendly German girl and your two favorite Americanas. Apparently when the Brazilians came in late last night they found me almost falling off the top bunk. One of them said he kept shaking me and yelling "wake up" but he got no reaction, so he said he just picked me up and moved me away from the edge. Not even once did I wake up. Equally as concerning is Abby didn't wake up either, so just to recap some strange man was picking me up and moving me around without either one of us putting up a fight, leaving us open to a Taken-like situation. We started our day off by heading down to Defensia street, which is ... read more

The ferry from Montevideo to Buenos Aires leaves at 8am and Abby and I figure it'll take about an hour to get all of our stuff from the hostel to the bus station given the fact that everything is taking a lot longer in Uruguay than we had counted on. Since neither one of us had an alarm clock we figured the only sensible thing to do would be to party all night and just go straight to the bus terminal sans sleep. Turns out, this is a fantastic idea. Bars don't close in Montevideo and we managed to con some locals into our plan. We bar hopped all around the city and as the drinks kept flowing our new friends got progressively less and less willing /capable of speaking English and Abby and I got ... read more

Abby and I got up bright and early to start off our day. Since the little bit of cash we had exchanged yesterday was now gone, we decided we'd find an ATM to get more. This took well over an hour as there was a severe language barrier and we couldn't find an ATM that would take American bank cards. Interesting fact about Uruguay. Abby doubled the Asian population the second she got off the boat. No one here knows what to do with her, and various people have started yelling random Asian words at her as she's walking down the street. I'd feel bad, but it's pretty funny. Second fun fact, most of the people here are white so if I keep my mouth shut I acutally could pass as a local. Well, I take ... read more

So we finally take off South Bound about 8 o'clock. Our flight attendant refuses to serve us unless we speak in Spanish, which was pretty entertaining since all we could say was "Mas Vino!" At about 3am we flew through a lightening storm, which, albiet scary, was pretty neat. I debated for awhile whether or not I should wake up Abby for this once in a life time experience, and eventually decided she needed to see this. After waking up Abby just looked straight ahead, said "Oh shit", then immediately fell asleep without even looking out the window. In her defense she woke up about 2 minutes later and watched it...but her survivor skills were a bit delayed. We landed in Argentina around 645am. What I was expecting was how flat it would be. Plus it ... read more

Sorry mom, we tried. Turns out there *nothing* to do in the Atlanta International terminal except to drink. We managed to distract ourselves for a few hours thanks to Klicos' new hotspot app on the phone. Managed some footballs, checked email, and are now well versed in current events, all of the current events. But with 3 more to go we've given up and headed to the wine bar. We are considering this conditioning for the rest of the trip. Cheers.... read more

So officially 24 hours after our adventure was suppose to begin, we still find ourselves sitting in Atlanta. ::Damn you Sandy:: Flight from DC to Atlanta was pretty uneventful, except the PA was at about double the volume it needed to be and I had no idea we were landing until we touched ground, at which point I thought we were dying. Also, to both of our surprise...Atlanta's international terminal is as swanky as the rest of the airport is hoodrat. Who knew?... read more
