We abandoned the idea of getting to Palm Springs the day before and got up at 6am instead! Managed to get hugh out the door and on the road by 7.45amn and off we set! 2 hours in and we both need the loo so we stop at a gas station and i go and ask if they have a bathroom. The girls behind the counter think I have a really cute accent and says shouldn't you ask for the loo! We chat for a bit and she loves getting me to say things. Have a few problems getting the petrol pump to work! Our UK cards don't work in the machine, so you have to go inside and pay and then fill up, but we have no idea how much to put in and so ... read more

We have tickets to Universal Studios! Hello everyone and hope you are enjoying reading the blogs as much as I am experiencing them! We were told by Hugh's friend that Universal was packed out because they had only just opened The Harry Potter World 2 weeks ago, so when we got back we ordered tickets online. Has a few problems getting it to work and had to go back on myself a few times, but as I pressed buy, I realised that I had bought tickets for the Monday and not the Tuesday and it was now 11.30pm Monday night! Stupid system! So, I woke up at the crack of dawn and called them in the morning. Luckily they changed it over and so one excited little girl yesterday was secretly like Tigger, bouncing around trying ... read more

Beach day! We decided to have a chill out day and just do the beaches. Yeah, chill out! Started by visiting a couple of camping shops. Get out of the car and go to cross the car park or parking lot! And stop because there is a car there. The car stops to and I realise he is waiting for us to cross! Get a bit flustered and run across to get out of the way. Hugh and I are walking and laughing and I mention how polite everyone is because it's not the first time it has happened and some random lady remarks "How cute are you two!" I quickly explain we are from London, probably a bit like New York and she remarks, "How sad" and with a "well you both have a lovely ... read more

So, we actually got to the airport 15 minutes after check in opened! Go us! Checked in, but we weren't seated together, in fact, we were at totally opposite ends of the plane! So the check in girl offered us the extra leg room seats at no extra cost! Bonus! Hugh wasn't sure when she told him there was a wall in front, but I was quietly trying to tell him it was fine and great seats. We had the 2 middle of a four and he wanted an aisle seat, but we managed to persuade him between us and he relented! Got through security in double quick time and then nearly managed to miss the flight because they started closing boarding 30 minutes before the plane was due to take off! Whoops! Ran down to ... read more

So. After missing out on tickets to Burning Man, we decided to try our luck with Coachella. We sat down, fingers poised & clicked away. After 20 minutes, tickets had been secured & what began as just flying into LA & driving to Palm Springs, turned into an adventure, which should encompassed Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite & San Fransisco. We have tickets, AirBnB's booked, a mustang hire car & lots of excitement. We fly from Heathrow this afternoon & land in LA around 17.30 local time, which gives us enough time to hit the beach for the evening. ... read more
