Hola! Pretty late at night now on the 29th Jan but thought I´d do a quick update before heading off to Torres Del Paine for 5 days of hardcore trekking. 23/1/10 Flew from Buenos Aires to El Calafate, which we have immmediately given the nickname Colonel Gaddafi. More snappy. Absolute randomness as we get off the flight and bump into Mr Spivey. A few confused looks between Adam and me as we ask to ourselves ¨is that really Mr Spivey¨ and then finally sum up the courage to ask. It is Mr Spivey and we share some fun Physics/Patagonian related banter. Go to the local shops and buy some brilliantly named chocolate. If Stu is reading, look away now. It was called ¨Rhodesia¨chocolate. Unlike Mugabe´s regime, it leaves a pleasant taste in my mouth. 24/1/10 Wake ... read more

Day 5-6: Thought I´d make a quick entry before heading into the relative wilderness of Patagonia. Last day in BA was going fine - just spent the day lazily meandering around the shopping district on Avenue Florida. After a drink in our hostel, Adam got it in his head that the best idea was to go to a giant club, but I wasn´t overly keen. We´ve had a lot of late nights recently, we´re leaving early-ish the next day and would get back to the hostel at 6am as clubs only open extremely late. Adam was insistent though. We have to go to this club (Crobar). It´s supposedly the best night out in the world. People fly back to Buenos Aires from all over the continent just for that night. He probably made that up but ... read more

Hello - now I´ve got a bit of time spare I thought I´d do a cheeky little blog update. Day 0 and 1: The two plane journeys were pretty exhausting. Adam transpired to lose his jumper on the first flight. At least he has yet to hit the final goal in his potential hat-trick of lifetime passport losses. But there´s plenty of time for that. On arriving at our supposed hostel in Buenos Aires, we were hit by the news that our hostel booking was no longer valid and we would have to check in somewhere else. Can you guess why...? Adam booked the hostel for the wrong day. Good one. Fortunately we move to a nearby hostel (St Nicolas) and everything is fine. Got the most wet I´ve ever been in my life during a ... read more

Hello readers of my blog. Or should I simply just say hello family - I doubt anyone else will be to interested in what I have to say! This is my first post so I hope that I'm doing it right... Today is my last full day to sort my life out at home before I set foot on foreign soil. As you would expect with my generally rather disorganised life, I have a lot left to do. And it's a near certainty that something will be left behind. Let's just hope it's not my passport. First stop: Buenos Aires (BA). I think we've got accommodation booked for at least one night but Adam's been getting really into this 'couch surfer' website where you can stay at other people's houses for free. I just think it's ... read more
