Making me hungry Ray, Michelle, Seems like you have enough day light to do lots of fishing. Catching some big ones. You can only eat so much fish in a week, hope you have a vacuum sealer. Sleeping with the big light on is not easy no matter how much you try to make it dark. Reminds me of KEF, ADAK, Eielson, Anchorage. More great pictures. Living the dream, keep having fun. Doc
Thanks for the comment So glad you are enjoying the blog. I have fun putting it together and selecting the photos. Its made me a much better photographer. As you can tell we are having a wonderful time and we wouldn't change a thing. We arrived in Homer this afternoon and we have a beautiful view from our RV park. Looking forward to a night out tonight for crab and suds. Updates next week.
Ancorage Ray, Michelle, HAPPY Birthday Ray, Glad you enjoyed it fishing, chasing moos and bears. Wow that is expensive for a fishing license. Your drive seemed very scenic, be sure to keep the vehicle on the road while watching the amazing scenery. I know what you mean by stopping at every scenic pull out. I spent several days in Yellowstone, around every turn was something new, also Arches Utah took a day to see. You must be getting healthy doing all that hiking. Seems like a "fish story".....it got away. Catch a big one this week. Keep enjoying your retirement.
Catching up Ray, Michelle, Finally catching up on the last few posts. You may have to write a book filled with pictures and how not to cross the border. The commentary is great, almost like reading a novel and picturing things in your mind. You are doing what most of us dream of except for the snow and steep down hill grades with a 5th wheel. Looking forward to the full stories and picture slide show. Keep enjoying the retired life. Doc and Beth
Glad You're Back I was beginning to worry about you but figured you must be on travel again. We are having a great time and we haven't chocked each other yet after spending 24 hours a day together for four months. Thanks for the email on the wall, great facts to know. Have a safe ride on Sunday, will be thinking about you both.
Wow is it cold in Canada? Mema and Pepa I miss you is it cold there are those real bears when are you coming home? Those are cool pictures. I just got done building Lego's and I got a safe for my birthday and a pet hamster named Freddy fuzzybear. That's cool you had a gun was it to kill a bear? Mom is making me watch cartoons about jesus help me. I love you.
Hello Austin So good to hear from you, thank you for writing. We miss everyone too but this is a great adventure and we will be home in September when you go back to school. Yes, those are real bears and we have seen many of them. Take good care of your hamster, feed and water everyday. Maybe you can make a deal with Mom, one Jesus cartoon then one regular cartoon. Love you to and give your sisters and
Mom a hug for us.
Canadian snow Great pictures, as always. I wonder if the snow was an anomaly for this time of year. I notice that the temp in SoMD is much cooler for this time of year than normal, with lots of rain. We are in Greece right now, traveling through Southern Peloponnese and we are also cooler than normal with light rain.
If it is important to get in touch with the kids (because they worry), you could always buy Skype calling time. It is only $10 and you can call any phone in the world cheaply. I bought my Skype time last year and still have most of it left. It would work well when telephone service is sketchy but you have internet
Pap Wait...they took your Passports? WT...? So what do you use for ID to get out when you get out of O'Canada into Alaska a MD drivers license? Some guy saying "Do you have any Papers?" They will return them right? So what do you use for ID besides a MD driver license? Sorry for all the questions, but I can imagine these are what you asked as well. That sucks.
They were watching all the way When they turned us around in Canada we immediately were on the US lanes for entry. When we got to the agent booth I told them I needed to pickup my handgun and passports. He gave me the "so your the one" look and told me to pull over by the cones and go inside the double doors. They were watching the whole time and knew we were coming. They were all very professional and courteous, I was the one that made the mistake but apparently I was not the first and won't be the last.
What a blessing! It makes my heart so happy to see the family all together like this. Obviously I wish I was there, but through the years, and the coast to coast distance, it's so nice to see the love you all have for this family.
Good to hear from you Wanted to let you know that I got your voicemail but our coverage in Canada is spotty at best and expensive when we have connection. Will give you a call when we reach Alaska. Doing good today, right on schedule at Fort Nelson traveling the Alaska Highway.
right there with you Hey Roadancer, Just want you to know your blog is written so well that I have a little anxiety reading about the Canadian Border, Hell's Gate, and windy drop offs and BEARS! Thank you for including us in your journey, it has been so amazing. I'm very excited to see what Alaska has in store for us, I mean you! Love you
All along the Alaska Highway Left Dawson Creek this morning and we are driving straight up the Alaska Highway. Fort Nelson tonight, Watson Lake Tomorrow, then Whitehorse, Discovery Park and into Alaska. Making good time and right on schedule.
