A chance meeting Just a few words (much belated regrettably) to say that seeing you at Goldbergs that night Panda was a surreal moment for me too and I was only too sorry that it was not under much better circumstances for the courageous woman that I met in kindergarten. You have been in my thoughts, my old and golden friend.

Chance to visit Wombats Oh Panda, for the first time in my life I have to say that I’m truly disappointed in you! How could you not sample even the tiniest bit of beer in a magnificent Munich beer hall, and in winter no less (well ok, very early spring now) where the temperature is most conducive for such tastings! Shame, shame, shame! :) I am very pleased, however, that you seem to be making the most of your short time in Munich. Managed to sample any bratwurst from corner stalls as of yet? Wunderbar stuff! I’m not quite sure where you people are staying, but if you get a chance, see if you can pop your head into Wombats Hostel (named after us Aussies of course). Damien and I loved this place so much (so clean and very bright) that we stayed in the Wombats in Vienna too, including Christmas Eve. As always, keep blogging and continue to enjoy your time to the full! xxoo
A flattering review Hello lovelies! Well, finally another city which I've actually travelled to myself. I was going to drop you a line on Rome, as Damien and I never made it there, but I couldn't resist putting in my two cents worth on ol' Frienze. You and Adam were obviously far more smitten with Florence than was I; I found the Ponte Vecchio to be particularly disappointing as we struggled through hordes of locals and foreigners in search of their 'bling bling'. I wanted history on the Ponte Vecchio, not what I thought resembled more the set of black rapper video clip, what with the excessive gold and all! But that was just me. I do however marvel at how much Florence packs into such a small area, architecturally and culturally. As for the exquisite Duomo, Damien and I were lucky to be staying but a street away from it at the Hotel Medici. Keep on blogging you two. You make the mundaneness of everyday life much easier to bear. xxoo

Watch out for the raw fish! Hello there lovelies! As always, you people are taking some mean shots on those cameras of yours (looks like the TAFE course only enhanced your natural abilities). Excuse the suck-up, but you are on the other side of the world, so a little flattery literally goes a long way. You made me chuckle Adam when expressing your dismay at seemingly not being able to communicate in a mostly English proficient country. I was reminiscing with Damien about this very conundrum, and our only advise to you is watch out for raw fish in Northern Italian sea-side villages like Camogli, where upon ordering a "filet' of tuna, it was presented to us raw! Yep, one steak-sized piece of sushi! So there's a trap for young players. As long as you have your phrase books though, you should be pretty right. Keep blogging! We're loving it over here! Lots of love Jade xoxo
jealous Hey there jetsetters! wow we'vebeen scrolling through your photos and experiences and are so completely jealous of your travels, except for the cold part! Hope you keep having as good a time as you are now and it has really made us start thinking of planning our own big adventure to the other side of the world. can't wait for your next entry!
P.S Any way we can still get our hands on those digital pics before you get back, ok if we can't just wondering.
Big warm hugs to you both
Love Brooke and Michael
The Jets are into the preliminary final!!! Hey happy travelling people, Just a short note to let u know that the Newcastle Jets beat Sydney FC tonight 2-0 so the Jets are into the prelims.
Hope you are both well and that ur luggage has found you.
Much love,
The Prebbles
A little reminder of Aussie Land Dear Miranda and Adam,
If I'm calculating this right, it's now the evening of the 26th Jan over your way, which is of course Australia Day back home. Given this, I thought it my civic duty to share a piece of a John Williamson song written in commemoration of the bicentenary in 1988 (yes Miranda, when Kanga and Panda were still in Second Class!) to remind you that you come from the greatest country in all the world, AUSTRALIA!!!
I can't feel those chains any longer, can you?
I'm footloose and free,
Can't see the sense in red, white and blue,
It's still Union Jack to me.
We're drifting in the ocean alone now,
Like a beautiful ship at sea,
And I can't feel those chains and longer, can you?
I love this big country.
So I'll raise my glass to the diggers,
Jump like a kangaroo,
Stare 'em in the eye like an emu,
I'll always be true blue.
Have you ever spoken to a gum tree?
What am I trying to say to you?
Love this place as half as much as I do,
And you're a true blue too!
Its beautiful! oh mira and adam! such an adventure and all before you even reached your destination! Uppsala looks beautiful and im glad you both look so happy :) i miss you and am admittedly jealous but happy for you more and even more excited to see you both in May! this travel blog is great! and thank goodness for digitial cameras/pix! lol love you both x
You're making me "travel sick" for Europe! Hello Lovelies!
So sorry to hear of your baggage woes, and your travel trouble, particularly at good ol' Heathrow. Seeing you in -10 C and snow Mandy has really made me travel sick. I LOVE SNOW! So now I'm also a bit jealous as by the time you people get back (if ever), you'll have done so much more than I could ever hope to do at the moment. But I'm determined to be back over there soon, hopefully sooner than I think.
This travel blog is a fantastic idea. I've been piecing Damien's and my trip to Europe together in the wee hours lately from receipts and what not as I've decided to make an illustrative journal of our trip. I bought some paper at an art supply store and I'm eventually going to have the book bound. Next time I travel I'll be doing my best to keep a blog instead of just sketching.
Anyway, I best let you go!
Lots of love
Jade xxoo
