Beyond simply living it up and enjoying this amazing adventure we´re on, our present time in Salzburg has given us an another cause for celebration-our wedding anniversary! Though we can hardly dare to believe that we´re even grown-up enough to be married, much less be celebrating two years of marital bliss, here we are! Crazy how time flies?!? Two years since I donned the big white dress and Adam stood nervously at the other end of the aisle...
Needless to say we´ve splashed out on our a fancy-pants hotel here and are living the good life. Salzburg is a small but lovely city, and a perfect place to just lay low for a few days and eat, drink and be merry. There is a really nice atmosphere here. Being the home of Mozart and the Sound of Music there are alot of musicians about busking on the streets or singing in churches or music simply playing over loud speakers throughout the city. There are some great cafes and restaurants and the old town is really lovely to walk around. It is possible to walk up the former city wall to where the modern art gallery is now located and from
here you get a wonderful view over the city.
We have made it outside the city to see some of the amazing Austrian countryside. I have to confess that this was in the context of a Sound of Music tour (much to Adam´s displeasure!) For me, it was quite fun to see the real sites of the film that I watched hundreds of times growing up and even Adam managed to enjoy the ride past the breathtaking lakes and quaint townships we visited (despite the movie soundtrack playing in the background!)
Without doubt, Salzburg has been the perfect place to recharge the batteries and to celebrate our anniversary. Cheers to many more happy years ahead of us.
