Peter, First of all "welcome home"...hopefully you don't have a too hard time to get used on the daily belgium life.. asper i suspect in your dad's post, you were starting to miss out a good piece of beef with ofcourse our belgium fries! yam yam...
Second of all, i would like to thank everybody for the nice wishes :-D
As the most of us over here, i also will miss the breathtaking story's and pictures which Peter time on time gave to us...
I'm looking forward to see you all soon, just let me know time and date and i'll be there :-D
Cheers everybody!!
verhaal. Who knows
Peter I hope that you will understand that I am somewhat surprised to see that sofar you didn't
tell us what you felt when walking along the Copacabana beach, when standing at the Morro de
Corcovado before Cristo Redentor. Were the girls walking at that beach really breath-taking.
If you took nice pics I would of course like to see them, because in my humble opinion magnificent buildings is one thing but human interest is another. And Peter please show these
pics and don't keep them in your private collection. Of course if you have other interesting
news about Rio de Janeiro we look forward to reading your story. Thanks amigo.
welcome home Peter dear friend my sincere congratulations. What you did was extraodinary. You deserve
our admiration. You safely returned. I would appreciate reading one last posting. Could
you do that for all your readers ? Thanks beforehand. Cheers
HOME SWEET HOME Dag Peter,
inpakken is.
of Peter nog even had willen doorgaan ?
doet in België. 10 dagen India is inderdaad weinig.
André, Kim of anderen.
By the way... this is not the end.. it's just the beginning! :-)
Cheers...
10 dagen Hong Kong. Elke dag posten ? Het was mogelijk maar zeer moeilijk. In tegenstelling
Eerlijk is
So my friend it was
a good idea to put an end to this unbelievable/unforgettable adventure.
Cheers
11440 I didnt know SA was that big!!!! Once you told me you were thinking to drive your motorbike for a good 3000 kms... You must have lost the right direction a few times. But we are wondering were you are now and what the next days will be your surprise? Jacques must be meanwhile home and save again, i hope so... and Kim is preparing her luggage.
How many spooks of your wheel have you lost the last days? Now you have 3000 kms without a blog, so we are curious to hear about you
drukkies,
Sabine en Papa
@Papa I didn't know that neither XD Atm i am at the Costa Verde between Sao Paulo(biggest city in the southern hemisphere!) and Rio de Janeiro(doesn't really need an introduction, does it? ;) ) Tuesday i will drive to rio which means that i am getting awefully close to returning home as i have decided to fly back from rio because of financial reasons ;o
It seems like the bike will hold it together till Rio, but i dont think it would have lasted a whole lot longer ;p
ongelofelijk onderhoudende manier in elkaar knutselt. Soms(meestal) zijn het kleine
meesterwerkjes.
@Kim Peru, one of the most wonderfull countries out there? Ye, there is just so much to do and see there. But on this trip each country has left a permanent impression in my mind and therefor are all wonderfull to me. The pictures are -not- fotoshopped, what you see is what actually happened...
Watch out ....choock choock Hola amigos,
Hahaha, it's indeed true Andre (how are you?), but we are actually the only one who have the guts to write something over here... we tried our very best to welcome everybody...but i must confess that our charmes didn't worked asper we wanted :-(, anyway i guess most of the pple more like to keep in touch on facebook, which indeed makes communicating also a lot easier. Spoken about FB, i seen really marvelous pictures over there...with a nice choock choock train, mr and mrs Flamingo and so on.. the pictures which impressing me the most are the wonderfull landscapes, especially bolivia and Peru..For us it stays a dream to be out there too..Now Peter a very tiny question for you.. are you still considering Peru as one of the most wonderfull country's of them all? And did you photoshop the picture of salar the uyuni with the pointing finger or was it just magic? :-O (Cool picture!:-D).
Jacques, how are you? Did you already left for Hong Kong, or still counting down for it? If you didn't left yet.. i would like to wish you a nice trip, enjoy, relax and take care!
Also to you Peter, enjoy and keep on going!
Cheers everbody!
blue sky Hola Peter,
I like the picture on facebook of your motorbike under the blue sky, but at least also pictures from the population... unbelievable ;-)
To please some other readers im gonna tell here what you told me: you are gonna stay 1 or 2 weeks in Bolivia before travelling to Paraguay and Brazilia. After Rio de Janeiro you are gonna visit a member of the family in Uruguay. The final destination stays Buenos Aires. But maybe, after that and if ... there is still an unexpected continuation? When will that be? Nobody knows that! I hope that you did find a new jacket already after your broken zipper... Im looking forward to see you back in Europe after ending your RTW trip on the right place and right time. Do we have to organise a big welcomeparty? Did you already investigate the possibility to take your motorbike with you to Kuringen? It would be a nice souvenir ...
@ Jacques: i also hope sometimes to read more comments from other people here, but obvious there are only a few fools (sorry Kim) to comment Pieje's blog.
We are very pleased with your latest posting but this time the waiting took a very long time. Some of
us must have been impatient. Sometimes it is said: no news is good news but from you we expect more
regular news, not daily, but 3 weeks is a very long time. A writer\'s problem. Well after all
those magnificent reports we got from you in the last 6 months we must be very forgiving. We cannot be
angry with someone who has succeeded in making us part of this beautiful trip and who has been sending us so many lovely reports and such nice pictures.
Having a retrospective view on the most remarkable events which colour your adventurous enterprise,
we cannot enough underline the importance of two things. First the decision to get hold of the Spanish
language which is indispensable if you want to get in touch with the local people. This decision to learn
Spanish has had a major effect on all your further activities. If you hadn\'t taken this decision you couldn\'t
have met all that interesting people who helped you find the best possible ways to enjoy your trip fully.
The second important out of the blue decision was the purchase of that motorbike. This \" thing \" makes
it possible for you to travel in a total different manner. A normal tourist(without a motorbike of course)
doesn\'t get the opportunities of sightseeing as you do. A normal tourist gets to beautiful places with a
bus or in some special instances with an helicopter but the fun which you experience with your motorbike
cannot be compared to the sighseeing of the poor tourist who as most of us is travelling without a motorbike. Without your motorbike your trip would have been completely different. Without your motorbike you wouldn\'t have been able to meet all those lovely dogs. They make a lot of noise but
(most of them) don\'t bite and wag their tail. I cannot understand why you have a problem with those
lovely dogs. And that donkey story. I am sure that he knows that he must watch out for a second stone but
I didn\'t know that he likes pealed bananas. Again you discovered how beautiful \"our\" world really is. Places which you will never forget and whereof we only can dream. In your report you wrote that at Huaraz you were well out of breath but at the same time, you said, you could feel that your body could easily cope with the effort which you were making. This is something to be amazed about. The meaning of that magic figure 69. I didn\'t know that you were so familiar wth that figure. Most certainly it gave a boost to your imagination and now I am going to finish all the nonsense which I am presently writing.
After 200 days and 8.125 km of motorbike driving I still say to you have a very nice time, have fun,
enjoy yourself as much as you possibly can. Move on and don\'t look back.
Groetjes
en succes met alles wat je onderneemt.
Although we cannot find any proof (no pictures) that you have been standing on a surfing board for a
second, I believe you when you are suggesting that you were pretty close to it. I am inclined to believe
that there wasn\'t a lack of skill on your side, but that the weather circumstances(heavy seas), were awful and that the surfing board was very slippery. I wish you more luck next time.Don\'t give up my friend. It would be a big win, next to others, if you could return as an experienced surfer. Another Beach Boy is born. Girls are found of those muscled surfers, who succeed in staying on their slippery surfing boards for more than one second, notwithstanding the awful weather conditions. Reasons enough to continue your efforts aiming at becoming a surfer hero. Nice pictures showing us part of what you are discovering. Everybody is served: those who like the wild nature, those who like history, those who like the \"pasatiempo\" of the local people, those who like a more than tasteful breakfast. Meanwhile your motorbike is doing well, I assume. The counter is showing already 5.430 km. Not bad I would say. Your
dad is far behind you if he looks at his counter, I suppose. And what about the good vibes. Are you
still feeling them now and then ? Or are you to create them yourself ? And about that the \" Deluxe shower\". After having taken your bath, don\'t forget to turn off the crane. Carry on with your mission and
keep us posted amigo. Stay safe Peter.
Happy end after all... Jacques, it was an amazing coincidence, maybe telepathy, who will say...;-)
That the dogs couldn't resist you peter was not a suprise...they never seen such a juicy piece of meat out of Belgium :p
But What suppose to be a fairytail, soon ended up as a little nightmare, now i donno...but when you entered Ecuador, didn't you also suppose to show some papers for you motorcycle to get into the country? Well seems you became a little over excited on the thoughts of Peru...
Nevertheless you had some worthwhile experiences... sleeping under the open sky was a nice challange, which you suceeded perfectly.
As good as it could be, the luck was on your side, finding some hidden treasure in your pocket ...which helped you much forward too...
and not underestimating your charmes which helped you to a happy ending ..and yes la balsa pict speaks for itself :-D..
You threated us once more with a breathtaking story.. keep on going like this...i know we should not worry about you (big boy ;-))..but try to stay away from these unplessant suprises...
Take care and enjoy this wonderfull country as much as possible!!
enough stuff for making a film... a thriller. Should we call Eric Van Looy ? Yes Peter, you didn't disappoint us, your latest report was more than worthwhile waiting for. It looks as if Ecuador equals Guatamala. A mixture of strain, suspense, fear, and hope. Feelings which aren't recommendable for those who have a weak heart. I must say I read with a lot of sympathy how you succeeded in getting yourself out of some embarrassing situations. Making yourself so vulnerable that the " Aduana " got pity with you. You are making me smile amigo. In my imagination I can see your plea for an human handling of your case. You must have been very
proud and relieved when finally you got permission to move on. I imagine you were in the mood
to drink more than " dos cervezas por favor ". How relieved you must have been. Beyond imagination I suppose? And then that money and gas problem. When I look for money in my pockets, most of the time I cannot find any, or less than I hoped. But you my friend you had a totally different experience. You found money in your pocket, when you didn't expect to find any. The gas problem is probably caused due to the unexpected difficulties encountered on the way and indeed gas stations you don't find them as many as we do in our little Kingdom. Peter can you believe me when I say that I sympathize with you about that "swearing stuff"? I can fully
understand the "sh*t and f**k" which came from that little piece of meat in your mouth. I fear that
I would have had the same reaction when being confronted with so much bad luck. The swearing
is good for calming down the nerves. I also noticed that you found yourself a nice female companion. This time not a girl from Korea but a Swiss girl. You said, a while ago, that you
are attracting girls and I must say I am beginning to believe you, because most of the time
you are walking in the streets rather with a girl than a man. And in Zumba you slept on the
street. And most amazing you slept well. Being a streetsleeper stood on your list of things
to do. Well I have other things on my list Peter. I would like to have a glance at your list. Are
there other "surprises" on that list ? Finally I must repeat myself. You are very good at writing
about yourself and about your feelings. You let us see under your skin. I have much sympathy
for what I can see. Congrats again for the suspense and the happy end. Stay safe my friend.
@Papa Olaa ! I am currently in Piura, getting ready to leave for Chachapoyas, where i will hopefully arrive today or tomorow. After Chacha i will indeed head for the coastline(and maybe do a lil surfin?) in direction of Lima. Drukkies right back at ya ;) and cheeers!
GOOGLE-EARTH MAPS MAYBE ??? Hi Peter,
Glad to hear all becomes good. But we all have the same question i think: why didnt you know you should have these papers to cross the border? You did lose much time with this "adventure", but after all also a special experience and... a good lesson.
Sabine and i said in the same time: "Peter stays Peter" at the moment you were finding that 2O dollars...
But were are you now exactly? Maybe you can report it together with the distance you already have done with your bike. It seems an important item for your readers of the blog!
I did find some routeplanners for SA. I think you can use them good... hopefully no more problems in your further discovering of Peru. I have seen some beautiful picture on the beach, very breathtaking. I hope you discover these places too because you told me you are going to follow the coastline. But remind my advice again: always start a trip with a full gastank... and some money in your pocket!!! ;-)
What about any prophecy about your plans for the next week or even month? Everybody is wondering were you are going to.
Have a save trip and keep the unexpected adventures within the limit!
Grts and drukkies,
Sabine and papa
strange Kim on the same day we must have been thinking of the same thing. You wrote: let the show begin...and I wrote: let the fire-work begin. We meant the same thing with almost the same words..
Something telepathic ? Same feelings ? Both we thought the same... come on Peter get ready and put us again on track with something really overwhelming. Peter you have the gift to knock us down with your absolutely personal amazing narrative style which is seducing all your readers.I am sure that you don't need hours to prepare your entries. I am convinced that you write them without much preparation in a very short time. About the weather. The storm called " Irene "is presently assaulting New York and I believe and hope that these extraordinary weather conditions aren't causing any trouble in Peter's area. The counter of Peter's motorbike presently stands at
4.170 km. This means that he is still moving on. He has covered a great distance, without being
able to tell us what he saw or what he encountered. He is now promising a spectacular report.
And folks, I believe him. It will indeed be something very special. So if I were you, I would open
my computer at least 5 times a day, because I don't want to miss this absoutely fabulous " mother
of all entries " for a second. We can only hope that very soon he will find enough WiFi and then,
and only then, the show and the fire-work will really begin. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
