With my toes in the dirt and fingers in the frosting, I’ll go to the source to bring you recipes, reviews, trip ideas and my thoughts on travel while we look for real culture in the kitchen. Enjoy!
A little about me:
After graduating high school I threw down my books and stuck out my thumb. Hitchhiked from my hometown Portland, Oregon up the Alaska Canada highway all the way to Fairbanks. That was just the beginning.
Instead of setting my sights toward college I set my hands to work at a fish factory in Washington state, made enough money to journey across the globe and spent half a year traveling solo through Australia and New Zealand. Next, I moved across the country to a dairy farm in Vermont. But the road called again and I found myself learning to handle a motorcycle and riding it down to Asheville, North Carolina. And of course working at bakeries here and there along the way–no easy money for me. But the thing is, the lack of cash never stopped me from doing what I dreamed of. I have traveled to all 50 states, 28 other countries, owned a successful bakery, created and edited a satirical community newspaper, learned to sail, met the love of my life and together built our solar powered straw bale home in Maine. Now I’m on the road again, it’s too late to stop now!
