Finally reached North Platte. Luckily there was a spot open at the Holiday RV Park. Got in, hooked up and supper ready in aboutn 20 minutes. Glad I cooked up some ground beef and froze it. The trip was non eventful until we were a few miles south of O'Neil, Nebraska. I guess the road washed out and a DOT employee had just set up a stop to turn people around seconds before we arrived. Well, it is a typical ADM problem again! A piece of equipment has broken and who is stuck fixing it? You guessed it right. Gary. He called about 5 to say he was stuck getting it fixed and did not have an ETA. It is 10 pm and I have yet to hear anything remotely called 'I get to go home' now.' Good thing we did not plan to ride the Bullhead days run. I didn't hear the bikes ride in but I was busy finshing up the packing. I hope I packed the right stuff for Gary. I also finished up storing the remaing groceries. Made 4 dozen cookies too. Fred and Ethel did not like the fireworks over the lake. At least it stoppped raining for the evening festivities downtown. Not much to report. Picked up groceries and loaded the freezer, frig, and cupboard. We were able to locate a tow dolly so we are pretty well set. Gary remembered the brochures so we will look at them tomorrow night. Gary is still cleaning windows. I'm sure the bugs will just slide right off.... Tomorrow night is laundry night and then pack on Friday. It does sound like we will be going to a very warm place though I'm sure the nights are probably cool in the evening. Gary nearly finished waxing the motorhome (he says less wind resistance but he does not claim this will save any gas mileage). I have worked out the route, gas stops, confirmed camping spots, continued to make lists, and pre-cooked some of the food we are taking. More organizing tonight. I might even load up that damn Nuvi with directions. If only I could change the voice....poor Gary...has two women telling him where to go. We are discussing towing the car in case we have an emergency or just want to roam a bit. Thought about motorcycle but if roads are narrow, windy, and steep, we would be safer in a car. ... read more
