Hi, Your trip sounds great. I am going to SunValley ID and staying with my neighbors in July and we are driving up to Couer d'Alene and will play golf on their beautiful course there. Wish you were coming my way. Mary
Are you going to visit? I see you are getting closer to Wisconsin! We expect you to stop a while. Let us know your plans. Love to see you. 715-358-7402. Just call ahead to make sure we are here. I know you are traveling the back roads. We are on Wisconsin Highway 70 . 6 miles from U.S. 51 in Wisconsin. Plan to see you. love, Marilynn & Gary
Boomtown ND Sorry about your 'early to bed' (well, 3:30 a.m. is kinda early you know). Thought you knew about the 'no room anywhere anytime anyplace' (ha). Would have mentioned if I had thought about it. Glad you found something anyway. Have more fun going home.
Jane
Coos Bay We have a neighbor across the lake that moved here from Coos Bay. It must be beautiful. Have a safe trip. I am enjoying every coment! marilynn
Last time I was in the Redwood Forest . . . . . . was before you were born! We spent the summer in California while Dad was in a flight training school. We explored the forests and parks every weekend. Mom would pack picnics and we would head out in the Oldsmobile together. I still use a few of the mammoth pine cones we collected as decorations. I remember as a family trying to stretch our arms far enough to "hug the trees"
Your road trip Greetings from a warm Simon's Town Michael & Jane. We have been reading your blogs & can appreciate that you are both enjoying your travels a great deal. It really is great to hear from you again.
We can identify only with one place that we have been to. That is Lake Tahoe, which as you say is really beautiful!! We were planning to go to the Grand Canyon round the same time but decided to give it a miss because of our need to get back East to our Yacht in Annappolis.
We have just returned (last night in fact) from almost six weeks away. We took a cruise ship to Europe & rented a Chateaux in France about an hour from Toulouse. Our kids & their wives (except Leonard's wife from America) joined us for a week. It was really great to have the family get together again. We then spent a week (just Venitia & I) on the Midi Canal on a boat. Unfortunately the weather in almost three weeks in France was not great - only three full days of sunshine with a smattering of short sunny periods during the rest of the time. Anyway one has to make the necessary adjustments which we did in order to enjoy it to the full which of course we did. We are also planning to go to UK for our Grand Son's wedding in September. Following that we will be spending 3 weeks in Tuscany, a similar period in South of France, 10 days in Cosica, the same in Sardinia, & then back to Cape Town on a cruise ship. So many exciting times ahead!! We have decided that from next year we will continue travelling in Southern Africa. There is so much still to see here. Anyway enough waffle from me!! Keep well the two of you & enjoy the rest of your travels as I know you will. Cheers, George & Venitia.
Las Vegas, Tahoe Alissa just saw that Phantom show on a school choir trip in April. So you are headed to Tahoe! We love Tahoe and it has been a regular place for our summer trips. You need to get to the North and West Shores. Emerald Bay is beautiful and there is a cottage there that is usually open for tours. In Squaw you can take the gondola up to the top and hike around, ice skate and swim in the pool up there. We rent bikes at Squaw and then ride to "Sunnyside" restaurant on the lake and have lunch on the deck which looks at the lake. There is a boat tour that takes you to the Thunderbird lodge and you get to see the wood Thunderbird boat - quite a site. On north shore there is the Northstar resort that have shops and places to eat but this may be too commercial for you. Can't wait to see where you go after Tahoe!
Grand Canyon Hi,
This is where we stayed two years ago on spring break. We had much the same experience you described. We did do a Ranger tour/talk that was interesting and walked down the canyon a bit. It is truly amazing.
Oh, Arizona!!! Jane- I'm still alive and will write to you soon. Sedona is such a special place! When you go to the Canyon, go to both rims - the South and the North. The North Rim is all forests and trees and muledeer and totally different than the South Rim.
Thanks so much for continuing the travel blog...I'm with you in spirit!
Love you two!
Looking Good! Hi 'Kids,'
You guys look "mahhr-velous"!
Enjoying your blog of you enjoying yourselves as you travel around.
We have several cruises booked this year, and a land trip to England.
10-day Carib, then 3 12-days each: Black Sea, Holy Land, and Med/Greek Islands
Hope you are enjoying OUR blog, too! www.2koolkruisers.wordpress.com
I still have your victorious "Kon-Tiki" "make-a-boat" video from the Princess.
Best Regards,
Ron
Hmmm (re pix 053) I see Jane w/ what looks like a reasonable piece of meat and then I see 'something else' (ha). Remember the 80 lbs. tour? If you all get thru Missoula can put up the tent in the backyard for you. Have comfy cots, etc. regards, Jane

Dan
Hi! I was just thinking about you in the last couple of days, and wondering where in the heck ya'll were!
It's so great to hear you are continuing your adventures... the US has to be full of amazing places to see too...
Cindy
a sight for sore eyes! You both look great! Enjoyed Joe's pics for the wedding and beach. Glad you're blogging the road trip. Can't wait for the next installment.
All caught up! I've been reading your blog ever since I discovered in on Saturday. Truly a joy to read of your travels... and now you are home and have more to do... will you post pics and blogs of the states? or is this it? Would love to hear all that you both do! And to hear of the future weight loss of the both of you!
25th de Abril Bridge Hi! I've soooo been enjoying your blog! I was so interested to hear about this bridge, as I was over the Golden Gate about a month ago. So, I looked it up and actually, the Oakland Bay Bridge is the other bridge the builders of this bridge made... not the Golden Gate... and they say that the sisters are OBB and the Lisbon and there is a 3rd bridge in Edinburgh (Forth Road Bridge)... Very interesting! Not trying to call you out, just trying to let you know... Quite interesting... but it sure does resemble the Golden Gate!
