The parks are amazing too so close to the beach.thanks again for the commentaries and the phone calls.
from kyneton dear Trish and Mike love reading about your trip it is good to follow some interesting place you have seen I think it is great and there a long way to go yet you must be pretty please so far wishing you all the best love udy and peter xxxxx
Cornish pasties or sausages? It's very funny to read how you went from one big to another and another! I hope you enjoy Port Pirie over the next few days xoxo
Jackie can fly! Did Jackie chase the pelicans? I think she would have watched from afar with her little hackles up! It all does sound like a really great place to explore, glad you are able to spend a few days there.
Crabs and Trivia! Wow, a dodge tide, who knew!? Sure Jackie had a great time at the beach did she find any crabs? Making me jealous with all your fresh seafood. A reasonable day indeed!
one handed typing :) My comments might be a bit shorter and decreased in number due to one handed typing! But it sounds like you guys are having lots of fun and discovering a lot about the areas you are visiting!
awesome!!!! hey you two happy wanderers. Just going thru your blogs and following you 'trail' in our atlas book.!!!! so we are with you, enjoying your writings Mike( not quite the same as being there but will do for now!!!!!) love the story of the elderly couple as you said following their dream how wonderful. hope we are as active when we get to that age!!!! enjoy your stay in Port Augusta.
i read on and see the 'bujet! bujet!' is still happeneing Trish as the comment says 'pity no time or money to shop in Kadina'!!!
Beautiful old buildings This is a great photo. I never even contemplated that Port Adelaide was as old as it is! I don't know why, but i just didn't! The old buildings are amazing.
Glenelg looks almost liveable! ;) It actually looks like a really good spot on the coast, definitely looks like it has that beachy feel about it but from the look of those yachts I'd say there is a bit of money there as well!
Once again, a very photogenic couple! Hahndorf looks very cute! Not what I imagined at all! I think I could spend a few days wondering around the old buildings, and maybe sampling some of Hahndorf's finest sausages and beer.
what a \'ride\' hey! love the detail descriptions of the places you have and contiue to visit... we feel like we are there with you. keep up the good work. As we discovered with you there are some amazing \'old\' places in SA that continue to be appreciated by all who visit. tThere is nothing like a welll deserved \'coffee\' break (we miss that!!!)We enjoyed out trip home thru Mannum (as suggested) although the roads where a little rough, think we \'bounced\' most of the way. Neil was alittle emotional visiting Nhill and Yanac, and he did visit the hospital and found of course that it been pulled down and the new one built, hoewever he did find one stone of the old hosptial that had the date of the building 9th nov 1941 and 6 years later to the day Raymiond neil gronow was born so that made him happy. Lake Hindmarsh was a good lunch stop. Surprisingly, powered sites and shower/toilets for $12 per nite. Think we may go back sometime lots of water now.MR have-a -chat got talking to Harry and his jack russell \'Tinkerbell\' for about an hour, think Harry was looking for some company!!!!! Home on Sat morning after a wonderful holiday with our 2 \'old\' best friends.!!!! keep up the blog.
The coffee outings don\'t seem to have slowed down since Neil\'s departure and I have a feeling that you two enjoyed all the coffee stops as much as he did!
I\'ve just Googled Seven Hills winery and it does look amazing, I can\'t believe that it is still a Jesuit winery and still has so much influence and impact on the community around Clare Valley. What an amazing story.
Burra sounds like a great little town and it sounds like you guys really liked it but I can\'t find Yackamundoorie on Google Maps, where are you guys? You\'ve gone off the map!
Tree house I've seen some tree houses in my time, but that takes the cake! The photos will be awesome to see. And 16 children? Woah! I suppose when you live in a tree, and you are desperately poor what else are you going to do?
Angaston postcode 5353! Haha! I heard you bought up lots of dried fruit from Angas Park! Keep up the Vitamin C intake on the long stretch across the Bight - no scurvy for you two!
It is great that you guys are finding lots of places to free camp! I hope Jackie is enjoying it all!
Potty Trained Largs Hotel sounds awesome! It must have been huge! Where did the ocean liners stop, was there a massive pier nearby? And what is with the hot and cold salt water?
Ahh Port Adelaide, how they have suffered since 2007! Hehe! I hope you reminded them of their dismal performance this year as well?
I knew it was only a matter of time before Mum got her way and got a porta potty! She told me that she will recoup the cost of it soon enough because she knows that you will use it!
Great plug for Freddo and Rowanston! I've got a few bottles of his Riesling on my wine rack now! Might have to save them for after Busso though!
Hahndorf, a real world version of Grindewald? Hiya!
Great to see the photos are coming along, looking forward to the next instalment of them - especially some of Hahndorf! For some reason I am imaging it is like Grindelwald but less regimental and more lived in?
The German sausages sound great! And you were just in time to catch the end of Oktoberfest! Were you served by a beer maid and was the beer in steins?? :)
Good to hear you took full advantage of having Neil around with the odd jobs before you guys said goodbye!
WHALES! How cool was that!!! I am sure it would have been a magical experience! I can't believe they frolicked around for over an hour! The photos are great, did you have the long lens on Dad? Good camera! :)
Goolwa looks very pretty. I am sure you guys could have spent a few days there just taking it all in! Did you get any photos of the actual mouth of the Murray? That would be pretty amazing to see, just thinking about all the other places you have seen up much further upstream!
The camping setup looks great! I am sure by now you have it all down to a fine art, but it really does look comfortable and quite professional! I am sure you will have lots of chats to people along the way about their vans and your van - will keep Dad busy and entertained!
Mum and Jackie - picture perfect! That photo of Mum and Jackie is AMAZING! Jackie is the perfect little model, standing properly, chest all puffed out! Mum looks happy as well!
Good photo of the Troll on the beach too ;)
I am sure you guys had a bit of fun wine tasting, Wirra Wirra looks nice.
Have you got any photos of Willunga? Are the buildings still sandstone based in that area as well?
I still haven't seen Red Dog!
Hi, we are Mike and Trish and about to start the next phase of our lives. Over thirty years ago we travelled from London to Kathmandu which instilled in us a love of travel. We live in Australia and since our initial adventure have done the "family thing". During this period we have maintained our travel bug by regular trips OS but mostly by 4WDing and camping trips throughout this great country. Now it is time to do the big lap, "The Wrong Way Around." We have sold up in Kyneton, Victoria and put into storage what we wish to keep to furnish our next 'base' and the plan is to travel for at lea... full info
