Looking for camping information. Hi, my wife and I are heading of to the Kimberley's in June this year and hope to spend 2 months in the area. Any suggestions on camping locations or any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Doug
Kimberley Camping Hi Doug, glad to hear you are off to a great part of our country. You will find many of the free camping sites along the Gibb that are on Station country are now "locked off" and I can understand why. Rubbish left behind and damage to the area as well as the Stations wanting a part of the tourism in the area...fair enough! there are still plenty of spots to free camp but the Stations do offer an experience. We loved Home Valley Station, where it is and has to offer and what as a business it is achieving as a training facility for the local people, ....
Loved the photos the Whales must have decided to visit you and by passed Warrnambool as there weren't any there at the weekend.
We hopefully will do your trip next year. We have been to HOB and saw thema few years ago. The Whales are wonderful to watch. Catch up soon
Hi Wendy and Jeff Dare I say "Go Cats!"...anyway...Yes, the whales this year were awesome, massive numbers at the HOB and Fowlers Bay, as much as we love this little spot anyway, was made unbelievable with the Whales 'in residence'..what an incredible experience, just magical.
Blogging and Travelling! It would be good to be 'on the road' all the time so that I could continually Blog of adventures...but...means must have, so we value the trips we can now sneek in over the year, but yes, I should blog all of our trips!
Stunning photos More great photos guys! I am very glad you decided to go to Fowlers Bay and on the boat, it definitely sounds like it was worth every dollar! Looking forward to seeing all your other photos, and the photo of Mum climbing the dune and Jackie running across the sand were hilarious!
The Whales! Well the purpose of the trip was to see the Southern Right Whale and see them we did...just fantastic, great memories and an incredible trip...so far! I will get the rest of the Blog and other photos up soon, promise!
Just discovered your blog site As said, just found, and have already spent hours reading from the beginning. Long way to go yet. We had a Trakkie very similar to yours - one of the early ones. Our first trip with it lasted 3 years. From 1998-2012, we towed it some 120,000kms, and lived in it for something like a total of over 8 years. Health dictated change of vehicle - now a Coaster bus. So I am finding the blog fascinating - so many similar experiences in the same places.
Hi Wendy. So pleased you are enjoying our Blog. We could have crossed paths as our "Wrong way Around' trip ended in 2013. Yes the Trakkie is an awesome piece of gear and has been taken to some places where you really should stop and think about before you do it, but, she just keeps following along behind. We are nearing the end of our current trip across to see the Whales and I will get the rest of this blog done eventually also. In the meantime relive your trip and enjoy the photos>
Australia We spent two months in Australia and saw a fraction of what we wanted to see. Your camel shadow photo is grand. Love Neil the duck and Jackie out exploring. We love blogs that include stats, so thanks for sharing.
Thank you.. Hi Dave & Merry Jo. So pleased you have found something in our stories. pics and 'stats' that interested you. Yes, Oz is a big place with a lot to see, gives you an excuse to come back and see some more, but be warned, the more you do, the more you will find to see and do as you delve deeper into all the small communities dotted across this vast land. Happy travels and thnks for the comments. Mike & Trish
Hi, we are Mike and Trish and about to start the next phase of our lives. Over thirty years ago we travelled from London to Kathmandu which instilled in us a love of travel. We live in Australia and since our initial adventure have done the "family thing". During this period we have maintained our travel bug by regular trips OS but mostly by 4WDing and camping trips throughout this great country. Now it is time to do the big lap, "The Wrong Way Around." We have sold up in Kyneton, Victoria and put into storage what we wish to keep to furnish our next 'base' and the plan is to travel for at lea... full info
