welcome home Wow, I never saw the ending in Ft Lauderdale. Like reading a great novel with a twist at the end. Thanks for my journey around the world. Yes, the talking heads are still at it.
which beats the cut off heads else where in the world. Illinois, Md and Mass all elected red Govenors. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope. Amazing how time flew while you took your adventure. I'm going to miss the blogs and the photos. But we're glad you are home safe. Take care of yourselves. love Petro
Bye bye! Hi Karen and Mike,
it was great to read your travel stories over all these months. I'm sorry, you did not make it to Wiesbaden again. Would have loved to hear those stories from you personally. I'm glad you stayed healthy throughout your journey. We all wish you a good travel home. I hope it will not be too hard to accommodate back to normal life :-)
Wishing you all the best, bye Isabell and Marcus and kids
Asilah, Morocco I have been reading your blogs, forwarded to me by my son Andy. Asilah looks like a beautiful place to take pictures. I wonder how they make a living on such little work.
Morocco Magical Morocco...we really enjoyed our time in Morocco. We need to go back because we didn't make it to Tangier. You are right that the men and women live rather separate lives and come together for the meal. A very male dominated society.
Thanks, Mike and Karen! I am home now! Mike, thanks for sending Hillary and me off on that early rainy morning at Chefchaouen!! I felt super warm in my heart! That's part of the reasons that I love travel, helping others and getting others' help! What's you and Karen's next stop?
Trip Just wanted to let you know we had a HUGE surprise on Saturday-Karlie is home! She left Athens for JFK and then a bus to South Hill where her sister picked her up and they all surprised us with breakfast on Sat. morn. So glad to have her home-don't know how long she will stay but her dad had her working by Sunday afternoon! Great weekend with them all and then Lew went back to school and I had the week off so we got a chance to catch up. Hope your travels are going well and that you are both well. Can't thank you enough for being such great folks and hope to meet someday! Safe travels! Lisa
Guess what? Karlie surprised us and came home on Saturday-really Friday but we saw her Sat. morn. Left Athens for Istanbul and a flight to JFK and then a bus that dropped her off in South Hill where Lindy picked her up and they cooked us pancakes on Sat. morn and blew our minds! So happy to have her home. Great travel adventures but she is still paranoid about the bed bugs she got in Greece so we are freezing her clothes and then a hot wash should do the trick. She is already back to work on the farm-thank heavens-and we are still pinching ourselves that she is really here. Missed that child a lot! Never gets dull here!
Tunisa Awesome visit it seems! You and KJ have a great time wherever you go-as it should be. I am sure Karlie is jealous of your return to Morocco. She would like to go back also but is a little anxious about anywhere on Africa right now. Be safe and have a blast. One day we shall also meet!
Berlin Still enjoying your posts and travels. You and Karen are looking well and happy as you roll along. We hope Karlie will be home by Thanksgiving-she said so anyway. Can't wait! Enjoy your travels and watch out for ebola and aggressive Indians!
Howdy folks....your trucking along I see...can't say I would enjoy the "bunny casseroles"...the land is beautiful, would enjoy all the nature. I found out this week that I will having cataract surgery in both eyes next month....thought I was to young for that crap!! Not a big deal just a nusinse...Amy is having her 20 year class reunion next weekend, so guess I am that old..ouch!! Vic is slowing going down, the state decided to decrease his psyc drugs, because we don't wont to over medicate the elderly....REALLY...he also had a psychological breakdown....I swear if I don't go postal one day it'll be a miracle.....Jerry's b-day is Sunday..her and Kevin are in Texas visting some friends..she seems to be doing good...she is tough!! Miss you guys...keep safe and healthy...HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!??. HUGS!!!!

Tutle Art! Brenda had a t-shirt with that same turtle on it I think, had a line under it that said I'm a little behind! Cute on her!! We have friends from that area and they eat uncooked bacon as well when they stay here. I always worry they will die of food poisoning, but no, they survive - Yea!!!
So Happy for Sharing!! I've said it before, but I LOVE to read your travel posts! Makes me feel like I am right there with you two and today I wish I had been in this city. Croatia, I have never thought about visiting there before - I agree with your comment posted by Mark Twaine! This weekend I got to keep Gaahl! What a joy, I have missed him. Kelly and John are doing a much better job than me! He looked happy, VERY healthy, and even behaved better, though he IS a good kitty!! Hugs to you, enjoy your time, and keep these blogs coming! Brad and I love so enjoy them! Hugs to you both!
What Happened To My Cat? He's well behaved now? I knew those kids would ruin him. Seven years of fish-hook sandwich training down the tubes. Great! We're in Liptovsky, Slovakia now and loving it. We planned on two nights here and are extending three more. Beautiful mountains (The Tatras) covered in old growth conifer forests with wild gurgling streams racing down the slopes and between the tree trunks. Just beautiful. Great people and food.
Noah Is Not In Poland Noah is stationed in Germany but he'll be flying into Krakow to hang with us for 5 days. So, on. average; We get 5 days with him every 10 months but never at home. The last time we saw him was in Weisbaden in January.
Bulgaria Hey Mike and Karen, I find it interesting to see how close you and Karlie have traveled these last months but not met up. She and Lew had a great adventure from Prague to Sofia in reverse of your trip. I hope she still keeps in touch. Lew came home to a week of work before school started this week. He enjoyed his time traveling. Interesting countries with Slovinia maybe the most beautiful but actually liked Bosnia and the people there. Karlie is off to Greece next week I think and she says she will come home eventually-before the end of the year I hope. Busy here in the states with us working folks-to much so! Holler if you are anywhere close to Virginia-we have rooms-cheap!!! Safe travels! Lisa
happy birthday Mikey I think it's today. or it could be the 8th. so I"m on time or early with my greetings
Say hello to your best girl.
love, the egg woman
Day Late and a Dollar Short per Usual Petro! Quiet B'Day in Canakkale Turkey. 61 yo Petro. WTF happened to us? At least I look good... Heading to Eastern Europe in 2 weeks. Ukraine is off the grid due to national personal issues... Tell your Mom I'm sorry.
Exhaustive Coverage Woww what an exhaustive coverage. Really interesting coverage for anyone planning a visit to the Area. I am also a blogger who is passionate about traveling. I visited Shimla sometime ago and my experience from the trip is available at http://www.expressions-kt.in/2013/11/queen-of-hills-amidst-beauty-of.html
Do visit if you get a chance. Any suggestions and ideas for improvement are welcome :)
We are Mike and Karen. We were fortunate enough to retire while we still had our wits and our legs. We are striving to fill our days with long journeys and lazy days.
