Great to see. Just wonderful what Vietnam did with Quy Nhon. Landed there a time or two in 1969 and 1970. Hauled 40 Vietnamese in to Qui Nhon every evening, who worked with us at 1st Log CC&S Phu Tai. Three of them women who did secretarial work and were also our interpreters. They certainly changed the place for the better.
Is this the front or back gate? Stationed there from Jan 72 to Jan 74. I was assigned to HHB V Corp Artillery. I was in charge of the Officer's Club, NCO Club and the Stars & Stripes Club. I always used the back gate near the O'club just up the hill from the NCO club. It was a good job that gave me a lot of freedom. Never went to the field, always stayed back with the women and children. If I remember if you went out the front gate there was a narrow street that we called "Suicide Alley" If you drove down it when the street car was coming up you had to drive up on the sidewalk because there wasn't enough room. There was a restaurant on that narrow street called "Emil's Garten" Great Jager schnitzel ! Some of the best times of my life wer in Darmstadt.
Gate It's the front gate. I used the back gate all the time when I worked at the 4th General Dispensary. I was with the 7th Evac Hospital. Our barracks were just opposite yours. I was stationed there from 1972 to 1974. Good times.
las ruinas de copan The ruins of Copan seemed to me a very beautiful place that Hondurans still do not take into account so much of this village that we have in our country this beautiful. landscape that this department has is expectacular I recommend it a lot so that they come enjoy everything they can relax and one here forgets the problems, our family would have a very special moment
Your blog contains valuable informaton about Shimla and nearby places and the pictures in your blog are very nice, you can find morwe information about Naldehra Cottages for more adventure.
Great review I'm here. Ow ! Great review of Lovina, I've been here twice ow in the past few years , it's like the Kuta of 30 years ago. Everyone struggling to make a living from the Rich tourists.. little do they k iwnthatbif we were rich we wouldn't be staying in a run down hotel on the beach front of Lovina beach we'd be holed up in a 5 star
In Nusa día or Elsewhere! Loved your blog , made me smile as I was reading it .
survey about your travel in Dalat Hello Karen and Mike,
I'm PhD student in France and my thesis subject is about Dalat tourism. I read your article about Dalat during your trip in 2014, I would like to contact you.
Actually, I'm doing a survey for the participation level of the tourist in attraction sites at Dalat. Could I give you my questionnaire about it? Your answers and opinion are the important information for my research.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Anh Thu LE
Will be looking up Abel Tasman in all my spare time! You know, Brad and I are doing National Parks?! Looks like we could use expanding our Nationals!!! Beautiful land, John's favorite place, New Zealand!
Looks like paradise! Gorgeous water! I am so sorry I missed seeing this for so long. I won't have my priorities messed with again and will catch up today on your blog! Amazing things have been made just for you to visit and show to us! Thank you!!
Beautiful Looks like you found another amazing place! So happy you found another place with great people and sites. More importantly for KJ, great weather!
Cruising...and observations Your blog has given some very practical information for those of us who want to consider one of these cruises. The food on deck is arranged very festive.
Memories in Egypt I love how you are sharing with KJ what happened and the fun you had 40+ years ago! That's a closeness we girls love, right KJ! What a beautiful tapestry in the hotel! Continue to enjoy your stay!!!
RedSea Cool Mike. I recently saw some fantastic 360 views underwater along that coast. Awesome water and sea life. Must be a real trip to see it live and in person. Again I am jealous of your trip. Would love to see the architecture of Karnak and other sights in Egypt.
Egypt so glad you made the Egypt trip-looks like a great place to see and i would love to sail the Nile. Very cool. Also good to see you looking so healthy and rested. Pour Karlie is hard at work every day and we are getting ready for the Thanksgiving rush but looking forward to the family time. Enjoy life!
Egypt on our mind Your blog has been very interesting to us as we may be going to Egypt soon. Well-- no date set yet but sooner than later. We may need to consider that Sheraton. Thanks for telling us to tip in advance. That is good information. I love stories and memories about school teachers that impacted us. I still have fond memories of Mrs. Bacon my math teacher and her stories about Turkey.
Wow! Thank you for the personal and interesting blog. I agree, getting to sit and talk with people who live locally is usually more interesting than the pre-digested tourist info.
And I would be very grateful if every selfie-stick in the universe vanished overnight. They are the root of much bad behavior.
How goes it? Hi, Mike and Karen, what a beautiful country and people you describe so well! Definitely makes me want to visit (as if that will ever happen)! Sending an email today!
Hi from Wiesbaden Hi Karen and Mike,
wow, you are still in Turkey. Seems like a longterm thing now. It's great to hear your travel stories. Enjoy life! Best wishes from Isabell and family
Turkey So glad to see you are traveling again.! I keep asking Karlie if she has spoken with you but I see you are out of the US. It must be the time of year as Karlie is getting ready to leave again. But only a short trip this time. We have so enjoyed her being home but she has this wanderlust....I am sure you understand.Safe travels to you all!
Friends for gregarious people Ok, so here's the deal! You two are really makin' me jealous!!! I want to come, and I know, I know - come on over - but it isn't quite that easy!! LOL I really do wish I could enjoy the atmosphere and beauty, as well as the great deal on veggies and sardines with you two!!! I think I would love everyone of the people you spoke of in this post! What fun, what an adventure and what a blessing. As I've said before I live through you two somewhat vicariously, so keep up the great blogs and looking forward to seeing the all grown up Noah when he gets settled!
Yeah, But Then You'd have to pack and buy tickets and screw with airport security and deal with pissy customs agents and find somebody who speaks English or worse yet learn another language. It's not ALL fun out here kid.
We are Mike and Karen. We were fortunate enough to retire while we still had our wits and our legs. We are striving to fill our days with long journeys and lazy days. Over the past few years we have taken a yen to SE Asia. Our past trips have included South and North America, Europe and East Africa. Life is good and getting better all the time.... full info
