The degradation of Dafo is alarming I was at Leshan in Jan 2007. The condition of Dafo (the Giant Buddha)when you were there 4 years later from your photos shows to it has degraded significantly in 4 years...that is scary.
I only read "and as with the rest of China incredibly clean and tidy", but I had to comment. I suppose you haven't seen rural China or smaller cities. The complete opposite of clean and tidy.
Hi, thanks for the compliment... They're all ran through various filters on Photoshop (CS5). Before that though a lot of the images are HDR images. The best way to familiarise yourself with this technique is to read and be inspired by this website www.stuckincustoms.com.

China! Hi,
My first trip out of my own country was to China, so it was nice to read and see some pictures from it again. Your photography by the way is really cool. It keeps catching my eye on all your blogs on the front page and I end up reading them, realizing after that it's the same person every time! Do you use photoshop to edit the colors or anything? Just wondering, because I just started a 6 week photoshop class. Keep the blogs coming!
sounds like fun hey guys. Your experience at the national park sounds like a lot of fun. I'd love to spend the night in a get camp. Hope to catch up with you soon via Skype x x
Love it Love the "we may have just arrived but we love it already" and the part about low expectation ... Funny how sometime it is when you expect the least that you get the most ! Really enjoyed your story and you got some really nice shoots, well done!
Worried Mum Terelj N/P looks amazing.Worried though that you and Faye are putting it bluntly nackering yourselves out.Hope soon you will beable to relax alittle more. But another great blog and photos M.Love you all xxxxx
Great photos! It does not look cold in the photos but i certainly believe you when u say it was! Your boys looked like they enjoyed all that wide space. I can probably try this one of these days too. Thanks for sharing. And hey, your photography never fail to amaze me. Do tell how you do it! ;-)
We look forward to Mongolia Loved your story and can't wait to visit Mongolia. You are right about long term travel taking a toll on your energy level. Sometimes you just need to sit and veg out for a couple of days. I've slept in a Yurt in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and look forward to doing it in Mongolia.
Looking forward to reading about China.
Trip in Reverse Hi there, We made a similar trip in reverse, September 2009, with our then 10 year old son. We had home stay B&B's in St. P and Moscow. So sorry to hear about your bad news hostel. I am looking forward to hearing of your experiences in Ulaan Baator and Mongolia. We spent a week there, in the city and at a Ger Camp. Not sure you'll be doing that at this time of year, but your children would love the horses!
Put it down to experience! Brilliant blog once again M.The flat owner was a complete arse, and you will not be accepting drinks from strangers ever again! Put it all down to experience! xx
So... It's been six years since we got back from our big family travels. A lot can happen in six years and the kids are growing at a pace that's completely overwhelming.
We have 'settled' back into life in the UK, which for all its problems is an amazing country and we love it here. We've got back on track with our careers and the kids are progressing well with their schooling.
As for travel, thankfully we still haven't stopped. Over the last few years we've been to a few more places in Europe, spent many weeks in Thailand and Malaysia, celebrated our 10 yea... full info
