lucky Phil loved the photos of Phil, how lucky to be away from
the chaos of the city, am not sure which email address
to use to contact you, not that anything exciting happens in Penno.

Hello! I finally have been able to cut and paste your address and thereby get to see your blog!!! My computer kept refusing to do it, I almost gave up.
on the road again nice shots from the intrepid travellers. We can't keep up with what continent you are in let alone what state.
We love the new book and all of the la verne photos.
check out the la verne website for one of the shots we are using to promote our high school video contest.
micky graduated high school and will attend la verne this month with ariella (and don).
ariellla has applied to MacQuarie for February 2011.
Will you be in Oz?

Wow! Martha, this looks wonderful! Years ago I floated down the Snake with some archeologists in rubber rafts for an article I was writing. The article never panned out, but the trip was fabulous. I was pretty nervous. I and 2 others got dumped over a class 5 rapids. We did what they told us to do and they pulled us back in boat pretty quickly. We learned about the petroglyphs along the walls and camped out under thousands of stars. I loved it!
I'm loving reading about your trip. Thanks!
Yes please I do want to know!! Does the chook poo you've dug into the ground around it have anything to do with why the Dawn Redwood has grown so well in front of the PH house? Thought I'd have a guess before you told me the answer! This all looks fascinating and such an education - thanks. M xx
More geology! :) It's not hard to figure out why I became a geologist after our Summer of '70 trip. I was always more interested in how the rocks got there than what had been living in them at the time, but finding fossils is great fun. Even though I spent 30+ years looking at crystals made of protein, I still get a thrill whenever I find myself in the presence of mountains and rocks that haven't traveled via glaciers in the very recent past - geologically speaking.
Wonderful! Martha, Last ngiht I heard everyone had blogs from you but me. This morning I was delighted to find one. We showed the Mama film at the book reading last night. Everyone loved it!! We have sent your cheques to your address to you. Will Lucien know to open it? We have asked Baxter to pay for you to work with us for a day a week next year on the parents making a film. I am sure they will do it - Mid December. YOu cannot believe what a thrill it is to travel in this way with you.
Amazing landscape. Amazing!!
Much love,
Norma and all the Gunawirra Gang
West Coast?south coast trip Hello Phil and Martha,
There you're in your way to a great adventure. May you have a healthy, safe and wonderful time.
Great to hear from you! Lots of love. Sonia and George.
Welcome back! So glad we got to see you in Sydney 6 weeks ago, and now you're here! I'll look forward to keeping up with your blog again. Based on this last trip, I would say that jetlag is just worse going in this direction than the other way around. We've been back for a couple of days but I am still so groggy in the morning. I need a Fingal Bay to walk around, a Tomaree to climb, a Crescent Head to surf at dawn, an Emerald Beach on which to greet the morning sun--these are the best jetlag beaters I know. Wishing you a great adventure!
Dear Martha and Philip --
Have a safe, fun and beautiful trip. We're looking forward to seeing you on the other shore! Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon are awe-inspiring. Can't wait to hear about your journeys!
Love,
Eliza
wonderful to hear from you Hi Martha, This entry was a lovely surprise. I love hearing about your travels and completely understand the stored bags of rag strips and knitting needles! Thanks for the pictures and Happy Birthday to Lucien. Keep us posted on your adventures! Ilisha
Loved the photos and commentary. This is an area that I have not seen, but now will bring it toward the top of my travel list. Really very spectacular!
THanks,
Greata
Happy New Year! Good to hear from you! Hope you had a great Christmas with Sky. It must be nice to have Lucien back with you in OZ. How long was he in Indonesia for? Are you planning on staying in Australia for a while? Good luck with the job hunting.
We are all well. Bruce is currently working at his brothers roofing company (no not on the roof) and Kyle did too while he was with us over the Christmas break. Layne was with us 10 days over Christmas instead of 4 as Bruce's Dad died. Kyle went back Friday to Uni in Tampa via Pensacola to stay with Layne a few days. Layne is in pilot training at the naval base in Pensacola and is renting a house there with other will be pilots. We all had Thanksgiving there. Bonnie is recovering from a concussion she got early December from swimming but is now back in the pool. She graduates in 2011! I'm still working in Kidz Klub at a local school.
Happy New Year to you all. I hope to come to Australia this year as it has been nearly 6 years. If I do, I hope you are still there??
Love,
Denise
Wow Maligne lake and canyon look incredible, as does Jasper.
I must say your assumptions, with the man at the campsite and the tourist props, do indicate a propenstiy for jumping to the worst conclusions.
I think it's hard to deny that you are becoming a true old lady!
I might add, i remember a drunk stumbling into our camping site once between tville and syd.
Drunks! A man and his wife were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding
on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. 'Not a chance,' says the husband, 'it is 3:00 in the morning!'
He slams the door and returns to bed. 'Who was that?' asked his wife. 'Just some drunk guy asking for a push,' he answers. 'Did you help him?' she asks. 'No, I did not, it is 3:00 in the morning, and it is pouring rain out there!' 'Well, you have a short memory,' says his wife. 'Can't you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!' The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain.
He calls out into the dark, 'Hello, are you still there?'
'Yes,' comes back the answer.
'Do you still need a push?' calls out the husband.
'Yes, please!' came the reply from the dark.
'Where are you?' asks the husband.
'Over here on the swing,' replied the drunk.
