Beautiful Ceramics This all looks so interesting and the ceramics are so beautiful. It reminds me of when we were in a similar factory in Vietnam where I very nearly bought some beautiful pots etc. Needless to say Kev talked me out of it - what is it with these men!! M xx
Hi Martha
Absolutely enjoying your blogs and the pictorial tour of your travels through Turkey. The weather looks lovely and warm.....as we shiver through winter here in Sydney.
Love your work Hi Phillip and Martha
I have been envious every time I get yet another travel blog. Please to see that Turkey is all you hoped it would be. It certainly was for me,and some. I look forward to spending an evening on a rooftop with you both. Have you had a chance to have a look over the beautiful waterways yet. The coast is simply spectacular, maybe that is something we could share over there.
Keep up the good work and enjoy...
Lots of love
Ron
How wonderful Hi Martha and Phil,
You definitely look happy! "Why not" - you may say - it's an incredible place to be at this moment!
Take care. lots of love. The Mrvas
History lesson Thanks for a fantastic history lesson - I've learnt a lot just reading your wonderful explanation. If only I could hop on a plane right now!! M xx
Horn of Plenty The meal looks divine - I definitely hope to emulate it one day!! The Horn of Plenty reminds me of my darling first-born as I had her twenty first birthday cake decorated with one - all of thirty years ago!! That statement makes me agree with yours that birthdays come around quicker these days!! Keep on having a great time. M xx
lambs Did anyone notice what appeared to be holes in the frieze of the lambs? Could the frieze have been where either animal or human sarifices occurred?
awe-full This is incredibly beautiful. Thanks so much for the pictures! Not something I expected on a sleepy Sunday morning. I love the marble patterns which aren't usually featured in photos and I loved the heavenly view of the floating flower lights from above. It reminds me of a lily pool, looking down at the fish swimming below. Many thanks for keeping me on your list!
Finally getting to your blog. So glad I did! I so happy to live vicariously via your actualized wanderlust. Now I am going to share it with a friend who, at 80, is setting off in an RV fro a tour across America with his partner. Maybe he will blog too.
Lots of love (and a little envy) from
-- Walter
Great Photos Hi Martha and Phil,
You seem to be having a whale of a time over there. The photos are great!
Take care and do keep us posted. George sends his hello to you. Warm regards. Sonia
Hi Martha, I love the part of Turkish breakfast, because that is same as the Persian breakfast.
In the hot weather, that is very Delicious.
Bon appetite.
History lesson Thank you teacher - I'm learning lots of interesting things about Istanbul!! How are you going at practising your Turkish on the natives? M xx
Covering the knees Hi Martha
It seems you could rescue from Not-A-Guide man. I was heard that the women should cover their hair but covering the men's knee was interesting . Actually I want to say; we have turquoise in Iran.
Thanks Martha, and where is the next visit?
Have great time.
Cheers
Afshin
deja vu Thanks for giving me a very pleasant flashback experience Martha and link to my last visit there in about 1982/83. I would have bought a new carpet to replace the one my son recenly threw away that I bought there then. I do love your story about Phil buying the fez - it's so not Phil!!
