Greek mythology began in ancient Greece around 500 BCE. The cosmology of Greek mythology was to explain the environment where humankind lived and how it developed within days, months, and seasons. Greek mythology was a polytheistic religion where there was the belief in many gods. Gods that were mainly worshiped by those who practiced Greek mythology were the Olympic gods, which included Zeus, Athena, and Poseidon. Rituals were often performed when prayers were done or people sacrificed cattle to the gods to ask a favor from them or ask for forgiveness. Greek had many stories that had messages behind them.
