Discovering the age of a singer sewing machine
The link below will take you to a site where there is a further link to a chart which uses serial numbers to age the machine. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Glad to see you blogging again
We love trains... trains of all kinds. We would have enjoyed steam fest.

Steam Fest
On the Sunday they have a great train race between two steam locos towing 4 carriages. We didn't go for the Sunday but that would have been an interesting event. Did you ever see a Stanley Steam Car? I had heard about them. The fully working car was absolutely beautifully restored.

11 Maitland Steam Fest

This reminds me of a museum I visited 35 years ago
Not far from where my mother lives there is a steam vehicle museum. It is probably the best of its kind in Sweden and there are not many in the world that can claim to be bigger and/or better. I loved that museum and it gets far fewer visitors that it deserve. Sadly much because the local authorities don't promote it at all. They promote other attractions in the area but they make no effort at all to tell people that this museum exist. /Ake

Steam Fest
Sadly, it seems many of the younger generation don't have a great interest in older technology, including my own grandsons. The Steam Age was just finishing in New Zealand when I served my apprenticeship, but that experience is embedded in my psyche.

We loved the Island and their people
While our time was short at each island we visited, we could not help but notice the simple but loving communities. Thanks for your comment.

Definitely a great day, and rather different from chasing birds in trees! Hope you are travelling well. Cheers, Rob

Van
Sporty and CC. Can't wait to see what you are up to with your new vehicles. I live vicariously thru folks like yourselves. Won't likely be able to visit Australia again.

Remote travel
I guess we all look at other blogs of places we would love to visit, but $$$ and health dictate otherwise. Enjoy our much less frequent blogs. Rob

Whale of a day
How lucky were you to grace the waters of Hervey Bay Queensland for whale watching. In protected waters as they travel north to the Barrier Reef I presume in mid year migration. I'm only familiar with the whales in their late year migration south to Antarctica which is so different. Amazing you had the whales so up close and personal. Fantastic!

A whale of a time
It was a great day and worth the extra $$$ to go on The Spirit of Hervey Bay as she will sail well north of the other operators. Just spoke to some folk this morning who didn't go the extra, and all they saw were a few mum and bubs. These whales are now on their southern journey. The northern migration finished a couple of months back., other than a few straggler juveniles. Cheers,Rob

Dolphins
So glad you had such a wonderful time.

Gorgeous!
Aren't we lucky to have these wonderful creatures to interact with on their terms. We have discovered several new Aussie dolphin species - our west coast has the snub fin. Never a bad day with a bit of dolphin love

Really enjoyed this blog - I still can't pronounce their name but isn't it wonderful that we have discovered these new Dolphins- we have the much shyer Snub Fin over on the west coast. Like Monkey Mia's Bottlenose pod interacting with Dolphins on their terms is always special. Lucky aren't we?
