Do you know the way to San Jose?

When Christopher Columbus arrived on the Atlantic coast of Costa Rica he was met by a curious native population keen to trade. The golden mirrors they wore about their necks had Columbus dreaming of amassing riches of gold and he renamed the country the Rich Coast of Veragua. The Rich Coast actually turned out to be the poorest of Spain's American colonies and the name seems somewhat disingenuous. That is until you realise the real wealth of Costa Rica lies not in the precious metals that Columbus sought but rather in the hugely diverse wealth of plants and wildlife supported by the country's many habitats.

This trip promises an abundance of exotic wildlife and plants, volcanoes, jungle and beaches. Costa Rica, here I come! Do you know the way to San Jose?
