Dufton I have been tracing my family history, Dufton, and came upon your blog. The trip you took sounds so fantastic! Just wish I were in the UK to do it also, maybe someday I can make the trip. Until then I will have to read about it in lovely blogs like yours.
Safe travels!
Hi Ellen and Astrid!! Hi ladies, oh it's lovely to hear from you. Thank you for your message. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in the UK and were not feeling too sore after your adventures from Edale to Crowden. Hopefully you will come back one day to walk in the UK - you should bring your husbands too (if you can drag them away from football!) Lavinia and Steve
Hi Izzie! Yes, looking back having a rest day in Hebden Bridge, really was great! Hebden Bridge is a lovely town with a river running through it - the perfect place to relax. Lavinia and Steve
Steve nearly fainted too! Thank you for your message Liz - it's great to hear from someone who has walked the Pennine Way as well. I think Steve nearly fainted when I told him that we were not walking 11 miles, but 23 miles! Oops! However, the walk from Old Silent Inn to Malham was one of our favourite parts of the walk. Lavinia
Thank you Julia and Arne! Thank you for following our blog - we hope the weather has been as warm in Germany, as it has over here in the UK. Best wishes to you both! Lavinia and Steve
Hello Siobhan! Hi Siobhan, yes we remember you very well. Thank you for your lovely message on our blog and the very moving quote. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your walk that day and your holiday. Good luck with everything! Lavinia and Steve
Hello there We met at top of Great Shunner Fell last week. and I took some pics. for you.Glad to hear you are still going and enjoying the peace of the Pennines. Teesdale is so beautifull isn't it?
Ihave had a chance to read your leaflet properly now and will be making a donation.
Wishing you sucess with this walk and fundraising for the ectopic trust.
'May you be well, may you be happy ,may you be free from suffering and may you progress.'( Metta Bhavana Meditation) with warm best wishes Siobhan
Well done! I am following your trip with jealousy - and the thought of walking from the Silent Inn (we had dinner there on our trip - but stayed at Ponden Hall) to Malham makes me faint! We stayed in Thornton in Craven, and then walked to Malham the next day! You must have been exhausted! But I thought the next day was one of the best - even if I did chicken out of Pen Y Ghent both times we walked there.
How is it going guys? Just logged in to see how things are going for you. Glad that you were able to get a bit of a rest at Hebden Bridge and hoping the days since Wednesday have been great weather wise and gentle on the legs .......... I am looking forward to your next news
Izzie
fun loving women Hi,
We,Ellen and Astrid, the fun loving women from holland are wishing you all the best for the coming weeks. We are going to follow you online. Keep the thumps up.
Enough of the icy rain already! Hello there! Well, you seem to have made a very impressive start. Glad to see the last picture of Lav sitting in front of a MASSIVE glass of wine - that is surely the right way to deal with a big physical challenge! Anyway, selfishly hoping the weather cheers up before Sunday (and selflessly hoping it cheers up well before that!) - really looking forward to seeing you guys then!
D xx
We are Lavinia and Steve Burch. In May of 2008, we set out on a highly daunting 429km (268 miles) hike along the Pennine Way, the oldest and second longest national trail in Great Britain, to raise money for the charity - The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust (www.ectopic.org.uk/fundraising/?p=46), starting on Sunday 27 April 2008, after Lavinia very sadly nearly lost her life to an ectopic pregnancy in July 2007. The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust was established in 1998, in memory of Sophie Winter, who sadly lost her life due to a misdiagnosis of her ectopic pregnancy. The charity seeks to raise awareness of... full info
