Saw Nettie today. She stopped by. Chattered lots. She has so much to tell us. Then she invited us for supper tomorrow. So we will join them & see their house or condo or whatever. Will tell you about it later.
Also got a note from Shirley. She will be arriving Jan 25. We will look forward to seeing her.
Our bungalows are full. Lots of people we knew before & lots of newbies as well. Changes all the time. Makes things interesting.
Enjoy your tours. We enjoy your notes. love
So wonderful! How wonderful that your adventures are going well, and that Suzanne has arrived safe and sound. I hope her travels were not too exhausting. Everything is great here, the weather has turned mild for January. Unfortunately that causes traffic woes, but not bad for me getting to work. Today was the Board luncheon and employee service awards, which is always good. I wore the Eric Alexander pant suit we bought at Rhoda's last time and one friend even said I looked good. Take care.
Glad you had such an interesting day! Well, after all your waiting & wondering, this sounded like a super day. So many neat experiences. Good for you.
Especially happy to hear that Suzanne finally got there. She must be glad to be there as well. Now you can both tour in earnest. No more wondering where & when.
Have a good time. Hi to you both. love,
Yangon I would like to be a fly on the wall and travel with you in the markets. It is great that the people are friendly and helpful. Why would their stones be very different from ones we see in North America? Since topaz is your birthstone you will need to gift yourself a stone that you can have made into a pretty piece.
It is cool here this morning but will warm up to the mid seventies this afternoon. I plan to golf at 2 pm. It has been raining a lot so lots of tennis, pickleball etc. has been cancelled. I look forward to getting back in the game. Wed. we are off to Tampa to the RV show then spend the night in Bradenton with Frank. The week of Jan. 20 we will go camping to Ft. Desoto and enjoy the Gulf of Mexico, relax and enjoy some seafood to celebrate my B'day.
Happy safe travels, we look forward to staying in touch.
Burma/Myanmar/Yangon Looks like you are having a great time. Too bad about the Hotmail thing. We went through that a little while ago and it went well so am not sure what problems you are running into. They do need a phone number or some other secure way (not email!!...it is not secure) to get you a code to enter, though. They left a message on our phone with a code.
Anyway, my cousin Valerie Hedstrom (Eva's side of the family, her brother George's daughter, parents both passed away now) and her partner Rick have been living/working/visiting Yangon for many years. They are there currently and will be for several months I think. There home in Canada is Victoria but they came to see us last summer while travelling around the maritimes. Both are retired and having a great time. They love it there and spend some time every year there. Do wish to contact them? Let me know and I will see how you can reach them. Val posts regularly on facebook. She just put up some pictures with friends they saw in Yangon.
Thanks for the offer Kelly we have already moved on to Mandalay so I'll pass on connecting with your cousin this time .
The hotmail thing is very frustrating .I have never had this happen before and it makes me angry.Oh well ...
Yangon Good to hear that things are going well - perhaps a little slower than planned. We are having a nice warm spell. I was going to check out Tai Chi today but decided to actually go to the gym(which I am already paying for) and continue with yoga for now. Ron and I went to Philomena last night. The movie is based on a true story - mother searching for a child that had been adopted. I liked it. We are hosting Riley's birthday tomorrow. He will be 11. Good excuse for a family gathering - not that we need one. And we are going to a potluck tonight so today will be spent cooking and tidying. I am looking forward to a few of your pictures. Take care.
Glad to hear you are getting your Yangon legs! So sorry you can't access your Hotmail. Damn cheeky of them. But if they are just protecting you that is good. Sounds like you are managing to get messages anyway. That is good.
So new foods again. Sound interesting.
20C this am. Cloudy, a bit rainy, feels cool here. But it does not require a shovel. Tk goodness.
R has a crib tournament at the old rv park this am. There are 11 people from here going with him. I will stay home & cook & read.
Have a good day. Love,
Tk goodness. So glad you are going to be able to hook up with Suzanne. We read about how bad the flights were out of Toronto. So we wondered if the 2 of you would ever find each other. Sounds very positive now.
The deep freeze on the prairies is over for the moment. Good for them. -4 in Ormiston, -5 in Manitou, +1 in Penticton. Not too shabby after what has been happening.
Anyway, glad you are making your way around so far. Lucky you are so experienced sure does help in a situation like this.
Hi to Suzanne when you do find each other. Have fun. love,
alone out there I often marvel at how different it must be to travel now as compared to my own travels, or even more so to a time pre internet. Sounds like you're experiencing it. I'm sure it's much more isolating. Glad you can at least check in here and know you're being thought of. Travel safely! Keep sharing those sights and smells. The world is amazing.
Didn't know you were travelling again. How fun! Have a safe trip and we'll look forward to your updates! Alex loved his Christmas and Birthday packages!
Longueuil Good I am so happy to hear from you, I was anxious that you could not have my message. I went on Air Canada site this morning and everything looks ok for my departure tomorrow and the weather forecast is good with a minus 4 and gentle snow. See you soon. Suzanne.
Good to know How great to hear that you have arrived in Burma! It is difficult to imagine such a different world, as we sit insulated in our snowbanks. Actually "only" minus 10 here this morning so a welcome relief from the deep freeze. Looking forward to your descriptions of this new adventure. Enjoy and stay safe.
Whew and wow! How hard it must have been to arrange to meet someone before we had email! Or cell phones!
I am following your adventure, and already very jealous, although today the temp is out of the -30's. Feels good.
Longueuil I am trying a new entry, hoping you are able to read them. You must be in Yangon or close to it, a bit tired and stiff. Go to sleep and then take a walk. It will a pleasure to join you on sunday. i spoke with Susan your travel agent, she has made a resevation in Tokyo for me. I listen to the news and Toronto seems to be able to organise but it was a real mess, people sleeping everywhere, luggage left alone here and there.Happy after all that I did not get in that mess. See you soon. Suzanne.
Thinking of you I'm sure the situation will improve. I hope it's warmer over there. May God bless you on yet another amazing vacation/ learning adventure!
Home Pam, happy for you for having a good trip. I did not have this chance. I could not leave for Toronto, everything was crasy at the airport. After discussing with Air Canada the best I could find is a departure on friday the 10th with the same schedule. I go through Toronto again, then Tokyo and Yangon. I will arrive on sunday at 5.15PM. Have fun in Yangon and discover for me.
Whew! So glad you have arrived safe and sound in Tokyo. The news still shows Toronto airport full of people waiting, so we will hope for the best for Suzanne. Yesterday they said every state in the U.S. recorded a minus temperature (even Hawaii, although that was on top of one of the volcanoes!). Minus 28 here this morning. Enjoy your time away!
Too bad about the weather. At least that is what we imagine the problem is. We are sure it will all work out eventually. Sounds like you are tired or frustrated or both. Good luck. Hope you find each other soon. Have a good sleep & have fun. Love,
I am off on another travel venture. This retirement thing is quite wonderful ,I recommend it to you all. Keep me posted on your activities.... full info
