Transported to a new world by your blog and photos Hi Karen,
Love the History and photos, this looks like the most fun place so far.
The sense of humor in the artwork is infectious, so I hope that means people are happy.
What a great way to save and enhance old buildings and not have to pay for it.
Great to have titles on the buildings in English, but what is the primary language?
Safe travels and looking forward to the next installment.

Ever tried getting out of the Botanical Lakes gardens? We were in Kuala Lumpur recently and the traffic is horrendous... and as you say it is challenging to reach anywhere on foot (unless you use the overhead walkways that connect the shopping malls!).
We had a beautiful afternoon in the Botanical lake gardens but we couldn't get back to our hotel... we could see it, but tried several different exits and kept coming across the six lane main roads. We gave up eventually when it got dark and flagged down a taxi.
consumerism Really enjoyed this blog…observations in enthral. Fortunately I can assist. I too used to wonder how in China (same applies in Malaysia) they could celebrate Christmas when it was foreign to their culture. I too thought it was simply consumerism. But No. The answer as explained to me was simple. It's a celebration…of Santa's birthday!!!
interesting One of my biggest fears as a child was becoming blind. How long was the Dialogue in the Dark? It sounds fascinating and something I would love to try.
Me, too. Reading is so important to me that the thought of going blind was terrifying. So much so that I actually became a certified Braille transcriber, and spent some time putting text books into Braille.
Dialogue in the Dark was about 45 minutes, I think. I was so fascinated by it that I really didn't pay much attention to the time.
Very nice blog about the mall We've been to that mall but not at the holidays and yes it does seem odd for such a big Christmas celebration to occur in that part of the world. We have become a global nation. And....if there is an opportunity to sell something and make some money it is likely to happen.
What a great idea... my Mom went blind in June from macular degeneration, and it was hard for me to understand what she was going through. I searched for Dialogue in the Dark venues in the U.S., but there aren't any. My loss.
I agree Yes, it's a shame that there are no Dialogue in the Dark venues in the US. I understand that there was one in New York, but it has since closed. This is such a great experience that I hope one opens in the US soon.
I hope you find one convenient for you. Or use this as an excuse to travel to a country that does have a current exhibit. (Not that we need excuses to travel, eh?)
Yay! You are on the road again I am very happy to see that you are starting a new adventure. Have a wonderful time. I am looking forward to reading about your trip.

Vicarious Thrills Yay! You are on another exciting trip, one which I may never take. I am therefore very much looking forward to your posts and lots of pictures. Have a wonderful time.
Single Woman Hello, I enjoyed this post - exciting day! I also would like to visit Petra, and Jordan in general. How did you feel traveling as a woman alone?
Petra and the Unexpected Adventure While in Jordan I was in Aqaba and Petra, both places popular with tourists. I had no problem as an uncovered woman alone in either place.
I dressed in a loose shirt with sleeves to the elbows, loose shorts to my knee, and a hat. I would ask the desk clerk before I left the hotel every morning if my attire would offend anyone. He would always laugh, and tell me that people were used to tourists, and not to worry.
Hope this helps, and by all means, visit Jerusalem as well.
Karen
I'm an independent single woman who loves to travel. Favorite place to visit in a new country? The grocery store.
