que loco! they're totally justified, but wow, i can't believe they're now charging $100 for the visa. that's incredible...i paid nothing when i was there. brazil was the only other country that did that. i wonder if the other ones will soon catch on? man oh man.
More festivals! We need a festival Puno has a wild, exuberant side. It is officially the Folkloric Center of Peru. Throughout the year, monthly festivals with music and dance fill the streets and bring out the photographers. The most popular of these festivals is the feast of the Virgen de la Candelaria in February with the famous Devil Dancers. The costumes are vivid and spectacular and no expense is spared....
Wow, you hit it perfectly, sound wonderfulm have a beer for me if you haven't already moved on.
Pictures don't tell the story The pictures you posted of Lima sure make it look pretty but I know big cities are not your idea of fun so glad to read you have headed south. I did some reserach on Arequipa and it sounds beautiful with the mountains and canyon.
Looks like the camera is working well. I am getting Mikie's room set up this weekend (the bed and desk are back!)
Arrived in Lima Thanks for the comments, guys. We arrived in Lima and all is well. Heading out of here tomorrow. Who likes a big, dirty city. We´ll keep posting. Love, K&D
Keep Posting Well, we have been thinking about you two all day and wondering where you are. I know it was a long flight and hopefully a healthier start than last year!
We love you and will be watching for more posts.
buena suerte Good luck amigos! I eagerly await the blog entries and will be checking from cubicle world each day. Have fun! Beware of the ghetto taxis down there, especially in Peru and Bolivia. I would recommend taking the more "official" looking ones with writing or numbers on the side. My trick was to hail ones with elderly drivers because I thought that I would be more likely to kick their ass if they tried to mess with me...and no one ever did ;-)
Les vaya bien!!!

Cactus and grapes I believe that photo was taken near Cafayate. Glad you found our entry on the Pachamama Museum...it was one of our favorite spots! Enjoy your travels!
welcome back welcome back. great pics! i loved the blog and am sad that your trip is over...selfish me...no more blog updates to check from the cubicle ;-( talk to you soon!
ps-don't your buns get cold using the outhouse at this time of the year?
the north i've been compulsively checking your blog for an update this past week while sitting in my cubicle at work (yes, cubicle). que horrible! anyways, i'm thoroughly enjoying the updates and pics! i'm sure your salar trip was crazy. your blog brings back great memories for me! oh yeah, the empanadas are to die for up north. glad to hear you discovered the good ones in cafayate. que rico!
one of the best signs I have ever seen By the looks of that sign, downhill car surfing seems to be a common driving hazard. When your car is the size of a skateboard, maybe it's possible.
Is Dave running an ad campaign for Aeuarela? "Hi, my name's Dave Northup, President of Aeuarela ice cream co. When I'm not doing construction or traveling around the world, I'm eating my Aeuraela! I especially love eating our number one flavor, Mint chip. Mmmm mmm good. Look for your next Aeuarela store opening soon in Homer, Alaska."
If you guys make it to Bolivia check out the death road outside of La Paz. You can do a mountain bike trip down the death road. It is totally worth every cent!
You´re too late... How do you know that I already do not have the duck in my pack? Worse yet, he is quite handy at construction and may be my new right webbed guy...
I'm buying you a duck That's right. When you arrive back in Anchorage, you will be the proud, new owners of a pet duck. That guy in Mendoza gave me a really good idea. Not only do I think such a pet would round out your lives nicely, I would get a kick out of watching Dave train a duck.
Safe travels, you clowns!
Hey ASH!! We bused it up to Salta from Mendoza (primera classe Andesmar, as per your recommendation...thank you!). Loved Salta. We´ve rented a car and are checking out the crazy rocks and wine country. New journal entry and LOTS of photos soon. Thanks for playing! We really think of you often on our travels here.
ooh, we need that bike thing for the lodge, so i can visit you guys at high tide! oliver is absolutely drooling over your patagonia pictures, the next trip he is dreaming about.
MARCH 2010 UPDATE: We're back and headed to SE Asia for a month.
February 2008 UPDATE: Since our life is like one big honeymoon....the journal continues. :) This time, we're headed to Peru and Bolivia.
We're Kevyn and Dave (I'm Kevyn, he's Dave). Welcome to our Honeymoon in Argentina travel journal. After 6 months of marriage, we still really, really like each other. Now, we're going to see where 6 weeks in the southern hemisphere gets us.
Enjoy!)... full info
