Many Thanks Dear susan and Kevin,
We (Miyoko and Masa) hope that this mail will reach at you in safe. Masa has sent a mail before but it was rejected at that time. After we read your report on Tokyo, we have been so gald to receive and read your blogs in many countries and places such as China, Thailand ,Indonesia and Australia. You have finally arrived at Auckland in safe.
We read the excited news about adventures of rescued sailor,Bernt. It was great so nice adventures by Mariner. We respect the Captain of the Mariner and all staffs and passengers of the ship. And the surprised one is that Bernt took a fishermans boat and discovered Horizons and repaired it. It is great that he would try his double round the world journey. Many congratulations on your meeting with your brother,Steve and his wife and their daughter. You must be so happy. Are you going back to Sausalito after this cruise? We wish you both enjoying Chirstmas holidays anywhere you go. Yours sincerely, Masa and Miyoko
There to see it! My wife and I were on the Mariner when the rescue was made. It was a great experience to see the courage of those three members of the ship's staff as they were lowered into the pitching sea and high winds. Our hats are off to them!
Dear Susan and Kevin,
What a brilliant account of a most exciting and dangerous rescue. Thanks for sharing this with WC'ers. Hope we see you on January 13. Uncle Bob and Barbara
Thanks Just found your blog, and wanted to let you both know how much we enjoyed meeting you, and playing tennis with you both. Safe trip home, and may the sun shine on you both!!
another great one Your blog on the rescue was most interesting but they all have been.
We have beenable to revisit so many places again through your blog and it has been amazing. Then in a month+ we will experience it first hand again. Today, Monday the 30th is cyber monday and reports are that it was a good shopping day. I ran around doing errands in the 64 degree weather. Out to the valley for odds and ends. Grigg's Nursery had beautiful pointsettas and Christmas swag. Stay on the ship and you won't have to worry about any of that!!!!!!!!I have my clothes all out and ready to pack. Will do that soon as we are having 3 holiday parties....the 11th, 13th, and 16th. Making up for alot of lost time. Wish you would be around for the 13th Open House. We have friends going around the world on the Seabourn and they too are excited. Did you take you clothes in the big plastic containers we saw a photo of? Do you take any wine? How is the wine on the Marnier? As good as we had last year? Any way you could find out the reds they will be serving this year on the Voyager? What is a sea card? You can tell I read your blogs thoroughly!! Continue to enjoy your time at sea. Stay well..There are bugs, viruses, bacteria around the U.S Cheers, Annette
for Alain Czech family send Mr. Alain Mistre many greetings and wish many success! Take care about you and kisses!! With love Lucie, Ales, Filip, babi Jarka, deda Bobo, babi Bozenka.
Berndt will find his boat During his first circumnavigation, Bernt Luchtenborg rescued a group of french sailors off an island near Cape Horn in rough weather conditions. They had anchored the boat and went to shore when the boat drifted away.
Luchtenborg took them aboard and sailed off to look for their boat which he found two days later in the open sea. The french went aboard and nothing on the boat was damaged. So, I can imagine (and hope) that Bernt with the help of some fishing boat will find his boat again. I am shure he activated a position transmitter on board. Good luck!
What a great job!!! Génial!!! Captain Stan is a very good friend and I am not surprised that he succeeded in this difficult rescue. He has a long experience as merchant marine officer on passengers cruiseships, and even if it was his first day as Master he has shown that experience and professionalism are the keys of the success. All the best and again congratulation to the rescuers... A bientôt Stan.
Have a safe journey.
Vincent.

more exciting than and 80th birthday Susan and Kevin,
If you recall, on the 23th of November three years ago we all had dinner with the Captain and our group and it was Joe's birthday. Well he's still going strong. We are up in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea for two weeks in our Time Share, something else thaat's not as exciting as a sea rescue. Glad it all went so well and enjoy the rest of the trip.
Tony
CONGRATULATIONS, STAN CONGRATULATIONS TO STAN ON HIS PROMOTION TO CAPTAIN AND ON HIS AND HIS CREW'S DRAMATIC RESCUE. THANKS SUSAN AND KEVIN FOR A GREAT COMMENTARY. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON THE VOYAGER.
Good Sailors, Good People What an incredible story! It is very disheartening to learn of a dashed sailing dream (maybe just temporarily), but very heartening to hear about sailors saving a life. Glad to know everyone is safe. (Surely you're sending to Latitude?)
Karma How amazing to experience the feelings and risks of the crew and of the German hero.
Sometimes our adventures meet our expectations and goals. Other times we learn more valuable lessons.
Susan and Kevin, thank you for sharing the rescue with this Mariner Alum.
Audrey
PS Played pickleball yesterday and it took a game to go back to the light ball and different paddles. Can't wait to play with you again someplace in the world.
