A year already? Blimey... The scary thing is you can look back at the last 12 months and list loads of exciting things you've seen and done. And what have I achieved in the same time? Diddly squat in comparison...
Thanks for keeping us entertained (though with some of those puns I'm not sure entertained is the right word); hope the real world isn't too much of a crash landing.
Scotchland I'm beginning to think you two aren't coming home and have instead decided to be international playpeople for the rest of your days. Good on yas - better than sitting in an office on a gloomy Thursday!
Miscalculation Dear both, using the date the blog was sent and the "number of days left" I thought that you would be home, hence the email. I'm still enjoying all the photo and the chat. Best wishes to both. Carol.
Very impressive shots Well done. And yes I agree with the previous comment which the redevelopment or prseservation is ok now, but if we want to replicate this village somehow, I doubt it will be approved!!!. rey
marmalade sandwiches Okay, I admit, I was fully expecting Machu Picchu to be completely overrated, but the pictures are pretty damn impressive.
However, I just have this nagging thought that if someone were to come along today and suggest building a new village high up in some frankly rather beautiful mountains, there would be no chance of getting planning permission. And even if there were, the environmental protests would almost guarantee nothing would get built.
And I'm in favour of that as I prefer my mountains unspoilt (although I'm being a hyprocrit as ski lifts are eyesores). But where is the Machu Picchu we 21st century folk are going to leave for prosperity - Harlow?
We love your photos Hi David and Carolyn
We have looked at your great photos on our new interactive white board at school. ( All 21st century stuff now!) The children absolutely loved the funny photos and made amazing comments about them. Angel thought that Carolyn was certainly a giant! Josh wanted to know why she was 'snogging' a little man! They all thought that you could sit on the pack of cards.(Obviously haven't got through to them yet) They loved the piles of salt and thought that the 'salt monsters lived in them. My children have a vivid imagination. We are going to try and take our 'versions' of your photos on the back field. It should be interesting.
Love from all of us in Ipswich, Suffolk.
suggestions Hey Guys, the salt falt tour looks awesome, Im heading there´with my travel bud Stef in 3 weeks. How did you set up the tour, any suggestions?

Thanks folks! Hello all, many thanks for all the comments, we love to get your feedback. To answer a few questions, no llamas were harmed during the production of this blog. Carolyn's crisps were in fact Ready Salted (or original to give them their pringles name). There was no sign of Butch and Sundance, but then we had nothing worth stealing. We've heard a rumour that they're living in Vegas with Elvis. Sarah, customs won't let us send live llamas. Would a finger puppet version suffice?
Salty celebrations? Salty licorice is much better! Love the photos; they cheered me up no end after a tiring week.
BUT, I'm also a wee bit concerned. Is "Llama worrying" a euphemism for doing what welshmen do best?
Quality photos Simon is going to be so proud of you. Brilliant photos on the salt flat! Dare I ask - were Carolyn's crisps ready salted, by any chance?
Sweet! er, salty! Wow, another front page blog from you guys. Good job, great pics, WAAAAAAY more creative than mine. Hope you guys are enjoying Bolivia, I know I am, I have been stuck in Santa Cruz for a week now! Keep up the good work and maybe see you again on the road.

Enough ice for a small G&T I thought NZ was impressive, but Patagonia looks awesome. Or maybe I just like mountains.

nice pics Yet another demonstration that the world is a small place: I just met you guys in Bariloche in the hostel. Good luck with classes and all that!
Now finished our year long, round the world trip, during which Carolyn was able to carry her backpack and we both became experts at packing and unpacking in double quick time.
We saw some amazing sights and met loads of interesting people. The best of both should appear in what we've written from Russia, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Guatemala and Mexico.
To answer a few of the questions we heard regularly from fellow travellers and those at home alike, we don't have a favourite country, no w... full info
