Our first week - After birthday celebrations on the 27th decided to come to Bali for a little relax for three weeks, we have this little affinity with Bali and need to come at least once a year, having been coming since 1981, eventually building our hotel and running it for five years, we just have to come back and see you! Booked into a beaut little quiet hotel on Batubelig, Paragon Suites and Spa, great spot for us, out of the rat race but close enough to everything we can walk nearly anywhere we want to go. Had to catch up with our gorgeous friends Adele, Reg and Noah on our first day and I was spoilt rotten - dinner at D'Nini across the road from out hotel..a place we love to come....not a posh ... read more

Left Agra early and headed back to Delhi, we have done a huge big circle on this trip, the road from Agra to Delhi is pretty perfect, nearly all freeway so a good run back into Delhi, about a 3 hr drive but stopped midway for a coffee break. Looking forward to getting back to the Crowne Plaza, a very comfy hotel. After lunch we headed in the central Delhi area to the Chandni Chowk Market area to the spice market, before arriving at the spice market we were asked did anyone have asthma or any sort of lung problems!! The fumes of all the varieties of chilli etc is unbelievable, even some of us who are used to chilli, had a few coughing fits! There are just hundreds of huge sacks of chilli and all ... read more

Left Jaipur by 8.10a.m. and on the road for the long drive to Agra. Enroute we took an unplanned stop in Abhaneri, just a few kilometres off our route, someone on our tour asked Braham if we could go and see it .....so glad he suggested it...it was a great little surprise and free! It is one of the oldest step wells in Rajasthan, it was built during 8th and 9th century it is 19.5 metres deep and the most amazing maze of steps on three sides ....it is absolutely gi-normous! It is hard to describe and the photos do not do it justice. It has some of the most beautiful carvings that we have seen on our trip so far, and quite different. It is in a very small village but just so impressive. We ... read more

Arrived in Jaipur around 4.30-5.00p.m. - booked in dropped bags and then out and about in Jaipur....what a great city! Around 7 million so a bit chaotic but not like Delhi...we started on our bus and then the driver dropped us in the old part of Delhi where we took a walk through the markets...scents, smells, aromas of yummy food and sights to see...what a place! After a long walk went up on an observatory and had a great look all over the area....then caught bicycle rickshaws for a long jaunt through the alleys and streets of Jaipur before arriving at a textile factory... some of the girls did a bit of shopping and then onto dinner in a lovely restaurant in a garden setting with dancing and music, had some veges, YES! John was actually ... read more

3.2.2016 DELHI TO MANDAWA After taking 2 hours to get out of Delhi – it was then another 7 hours along bumpy, dusty and narrow roads a lot of the way until we reached Mandawa, dodging cows, camels, donkeys, goats and horses and also cars – thought we could have had at least 10 headons today but they seem to just get off the edge of the road in time. Stopped enroute for lunch at a wayside place, then continued on through the countryside, it was quite lush and green and some irrigation just outside Delhi but the further we went the dryer and dustier it became – lots of fun and interesting sights along the way – acres and acres of mustard we could see from the bus windows and people working in the fields. ... read more

Well the Crowne Plaza was a very welcome place at 12.30a.m. after travelling for 24 hours - we were wrecked - lovely hot shower and straight to bed for a few hours. Thankful our bags made it with 3 plane changes. Up early Monday morning down for buffet breaky - it was fantastic - so many choices and very yummy what we had. Then we had decided to head out for the day and catch the Metro into old Delhi, but a little tuk, tuk driver coerced us into going with him, which in the end turned out to be a good move - $10 for about 6hrs taking us all over Delhi. So far so good, thought that Delhi would have been much worse that it is - there are so many green spaces around ... read more

Decided to drive to Sydney, so called into Wangaratta enroute to Sydney to take Es and Les out for lunch as Les turned 87 on the 20th January. Was a great pitstop lunch at the Sydney Hotel in Wang and then motored onto Sydney getting in at around 8.00p.m. Our apartment was terrific right on the edge of Darling Harbour and a few metres from where we were to catch our cruise for Australia Day. Adina Apartments in Shelley Street, would recommend if you want to be right in Darling Harbour. Ventured out for a well earned beer and some dinner after the long trip, chose Bungalow 8, which was very nice and overlooked the harbour. 25.1.2016 Up and out for breaky then for a long walk around Sydney, walked through the city to the Opera ... read more

Well had this side trip booked for a few months to celebrate our mate Mark's 50th birthday...he hadn't been to Tassie, so it was about time to explore. We flew down with Tiger without mishap and have a lovely little apartment in Sandy Bay just a couple of hundred metres off the Sandy Bay shopping strip, a two bedroom two bathroom with everything you could possibly need in it...an old art deco home that has been renovated into 4 apartments..great spot! Flew down Sunday night so when we arrived decided to go to Solo Italian Pizza and Pasta...we were not disappointed one of the best meals we had in Tassie...linguini marinara was delish, as was John's spicy Calzone and Mark commented his pizza was the best he has had!! All washed down with a bottle of ... read more

Well this is a very unexpected little jaunt we are going on!!! While having breaky with a friend on Friday my beautiful husband booked this last minute cruise, so here we are three days later in Sydney getting ready to head out of the harbor at 4.00p.m. en route to New Caledonia (we haven't been before, so I guess why not??!!). Very cheap cruise can't believe the price but anyway we will see how it all goes, P&O Pacific Jewell - so much for that diet we were embarking on! Luke Mangan's restaurant Salt has a great name so cant wait to book into that. Sailed out of Sydney Harbour around 4.00p.m., such a spectacular harbour, sailing under the harbour bridge is so cool! Already met some really nice people, had the sail away party on ... read more

Up early and on the road by 9.00a.m. first stop is a terracotta factory to show the type of soil the terracotta is made from and also the lacquer furniture..all very interesting... then onto a tea house for another tea ceremony, thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful teas that were on offer and then went upstairs for lunch. Great lunch banquet with plenty of choices and always served with a bottle of beer! 22 degrees today so is a bit cooler and we are all thoroughly enjoying that. After lunch we walked to the entrance of the area of the terracotta warriors, quite a long walk and boy oh boy was it worth it...what an amazing site with all those terracotta pieces....can't believe that this was only discovered in 1974 when a local farmer, who didn't get ... read more
