Geo: 37.5409, -77.4801The planning of the trip to Africa started at the end of November. Now, after the closing of the US embassy in Rwanda from 8/4-8/10 (so far), a fire that burned down the international terminal in Kenya yesterday, and having my credit card closed yesterday due to "compromised activity" with my account, we are ready to go.We were supposed to leave for Newark at 12:55 pm but it was delayed until 2:30.Then, we fly from Newark to Zurich, Switzerland (8 hour flight). We fly through the night and arrive in Zurich tomorrow around 9:00 am.We are having drinks at the Newark airport, waiting to depart.... read more

Geo: 40.0447, -75.4392This was a short driving day today. It was only about 2 hours from where we stopped on Thursday evening to Sheila's brother's house outside of Philadelphia. On the way, we did a little shopping at the King of Prussia Mall, which claims to be the largest amount of retail space of any mall in America. After arriving at their house, Sheila's brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Anne, took us to Valley Forge National Park. We toured around the encampment. Then, Jim and Anne took us to Phoenixville, PA where we had dinner at a great restaurant, The Black Lab. Phoenixville was an old industrial town that has reinvented itself as a hip place with a bunch of restaurants and shops, with live music playing along the streets. We also walked by the Colonial Theater that ... read more

Geo: 40.5268, -74.3935Not a great travel day today...rainy, overcast, and high winds. Drove down Rt 1A along the coast of Rhode Island. There is definitely some money in RI. Incredible houses along the coast. We left there on our way to New Haven, CT to see the Yale Campus.....not impressed. It was drizzling and overcast, which didn't help, but the area was not that attractive, and no place to park an RV. So, we left to see what else we could find in CT. Most of the historic areas were blocked by low clearance overpasses; challenging when driving an RV. Finally, we just decided to get out of CT.Then, we hit I-95 going through New York City....50 minutes to go 4 miles over the Triboro Bridge. Long day of driving.....or sitting. But, this was really the first ... read more

Geo: 41.4921, -71.3113We started the morning with a little fog, but no rain. We had a nice 3-3/4 hour drive, but hit some nasty traffic through the construction around Boston. At 11:30, we arrived at the RV campground in Middleton, about 3 miles from Newport, and was less than impressed. The facility was crap, the manager had no personality, but the place was very close to Newport. We rode our bikes the short distance into Newport and loved it. We did the Cliff Walk, and then walked around the waterfront shops and restaurants. We got back to the RV around 8:00 pm, and had a relaxing evening.... read more

Geo: 43.6591, -70.2566We left the campground near Bar Harbor this morning and drove in nasty rain for 3-1/2 hours to Portland, ME. We are staying at a campground about 10 minutes from the historic downtown.A taxi took us into the city in the afternoon, where we explored Portland. The weather cooperated and we had great time sitting out on a wharf and watching a band play at a bar. We shopped and had dinner at an Irish Pub; surprisingly good food.Today was also the 2nd Quarter eServices Board Meeting. This is the first one that I have missed since we formed the Company. I have to say that I really did not miss being there. LOL... read more

Geo: 44.3875, -68.2044We left Boothbay Harbor, Maine this morning and drove 2-1/2 hours to Bar Harbor, Maine, traveling along the coast most of the way. We had lunch in the restaurant/shops area of Bar Harbor, and then walked around the town. We then drove around the island on the outside of Arcadia National Park, to Northeast Harbor, Bass Harbor, and Pretty Marsh. We arrived at the campground around 5:00 pm.The plan is to hike in Arcadia National Park tomorrow, and spend another night at the campground. This will likely be the farthest northeast that we will hit on this trip. We start heading towards home after tomorrow, but won't be back in Richmond until a week from Monday or Tuesday.... read more
